Jarrek
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Toronto Lynx Brava Game Report LYNX RUN OUT OF JUICE AGAINST BATTERY Date: Saturday, July 12, 2003 Venue: Blackbaud Stadium, Charleston South Carolina Attendance: 3,035 Kick Off: 7:30 PM Final Score: Toronto 0 – Charleston 1 Match Summary: The Toronto Lynx could not scratch out any points against the Charleston Battery this evening. The Battery raise their season record to 12- 3-3 with an A-League leading 39 points. The loss drops the Lynx record to 6- 9-3 for 21 points and moves Toronto to 5th place in the Northeast Division. The Lynx were leapfrogged by the Pittsburgh Riverhounds who secured a 2-1 victory at home over the Richmond Kickers this evening. The Battery took the early lead in the first half at the 18th minute as their top two 2003 scorers hooked up to open and close the scoring. Josh Henderson fed Teddy Chronopoulos and sent him all alone against Theo Zagar where he was able to deftly slide the ball by the Lynx keeper for his 6th goal of the year. Try as they might, the Lynx could not find the back of the net. Lady luck was not on the Lynx side tonight as time and time again they were turned away by Battery keeper Dustin Hudock. Hudock recorded his league leading 9th shutout of the season and he was the difference as the 2002 A-League Goalkeeper of the Year blocked a Nikki Vignjevic drive that was destined to tie the game. Crazy_Yank
Chronopolous is the class of the A-league. He's still a damn good player. The only reason he's not in MLS this year is because they wanted him to take a 20% pay cut (stupid single entity, allow free agency for christ's sake). He was capped by the US not too long ago. Right now I think there are 15-20 players in the A-league that could significantly raise the level of play in MLS. "Try not, do. Do or do not. DarnCherry
I think Thiago Martins of Pittsburgh is the class of the A-League. Thats only my opinion though. Jarrek
Toronto is at the bottom of the pit yet again with a 3 game losing streak. I guess we're going to have to get used to this.
