Massive Attack
http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/media/viewArtical.asp?Press_ID=1258 Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Women’s World Cup Team Head Coach Even Pellerud today announced his 19-player roster for the Mexico series which take place on June 12 and 15 in Guasave and Mazatlan, Mexico, respectively. Pellerud will have goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc available for both games but will be without defender Breanna Boyd, who plays with Carolina in the WUSA. Defender Sharolta Nonen (Atlanta) and forwards Charmaine Hooper (Atlanta) and Christine Latham (San Diego) are available for the first game only, due to WUSA commitments on the 15th. Mexico is currently preparing for their World Cup Qualifying playoff against the third place team from Asia for the final Women’s World Cup spot. "The Mexican team is back from two international games against Argentina (3-2 win) and Costa Rica (2-0 win), so this team is ready to compete at the highest level,” said Pellerud. “We still remember the hard fought encounter in the last Gold Cup when our 2-0 win ensured our participation in the World Cup.” “Because Mexico will host the Olympic Qualifying tournament in February 2004, it is of major importance for us to be the guest team, thus giving the players another view into another culture. Few of our players have ever played and stayed in this country and this will add to their international experience.” Games Mexico vs. Canada June 12 Guasave, Mexico 7:00 p.m. (local) Mexico vs Canada June 14 Mazatlan, Mexico 5:00 p.m. (local) Canadian Women’s World Cup Team Roster (Mexico Series) Name Pos.
