BringBackTheBlizzard
Anyone know if the guy Grnja that features prominently in this was involved with the London Lasers in 1990? He looks familiar, but it has been a while. I know the coach Ivan Markovic was. Great documentary and a reminder of how much the much derided ethnic club contributed to the history of Canadian soccer.
Toje
Toronto Croatia are not playing in the CSL this year, so does anyone know if they will be playing in a different league? Shame to see a club founded in 1956 not playing....
Pqhbv
I've been hearing this for awhile from close friends. I don't think you'll be hearing about them until after the RCMP investigation settles down. http://canadiansoccerleague.ca/csl-set-for-may-kickoff/ Absent is Toronto Croatia
BringBackTheBlizzard
Looks like they lost the following from last year's top division (the last two are listed in the second division but that may be for PR reasons more than anything else): Toronto Croatia, Burlington, Niagara, London City, Waterloo SC So maybe another two seasons until it finally implodes. Toje
Yeah, can't see them hanging on much longer. I am still really curious to see if Toronto Croatia is still around, perhaps in a local Toronto amateur league?
BringBackTheBlizzard
Would they be allowed back under the OSA umbrella after playing in an unsanctioned league? I suspect not. There are already lots of Croatian clubs in amateur leagues in the GTA so I am not sure there would even be a niche for them at that level, but people with -ić at the end of their name would know a lot more than I do on that. to70
As per their web site www.torontocroatia.com they are rebuilding and are placing their academy team in a new league along with some other former CSL teams like Brampton City,Atomic FC and North York Astros. I heard that they grew tired of shenanigans of the "CSL"
