Final roster for China 2007

The women will do yet another training camp for 2 weeks. The CSA published in their website: "All of Canada’s top players are included in the camp. The final roster for Canada’s FIFA Women’s World Cup team is expected to be announced in the final week of August." I guess to expect that Nonen, Hooper and Latham are included in "all top players" may be just an illusion. They better have a lot players on-call just in case more get injured in Japan.

Canadian Head Coach Even Pellerud announced his 21-player roster today for the FIFA Women’s World Cup China 2007.

The announcement took place at Hugo Ray Park in West Vancouver.

'The selected team is more experienced at an international level than the previous World Cup team,' says head coach Even Pellerud. 'We have a good balance of experience and youth.'

Canada will face Norway (12 September), Ghana (15 September) and Australia (19 September) in the group stage. The Women’s World Cup runs from 10-30 September.

'We are playing against really strong opponents and World Cup competitions are all about momentum so we need to start out strong against Norway,' says Pellerud. 'Our goal for the World Cup is a podium finish.'

The Women’s senior team will first play Japan on 30 August as a warm-up for the World Cup.
