Impact sign with CJAD, Sirius

Once again this year, soccer fans will be able to follow the Montreal Impact’s activities on the radio. English radio CJAD 800 will air 20 games over the 2007 season and 14 games will be broadcast on Sirius satellite radio (Infoplus 187).

CJAD will kick off its broadcasts with the Impact’s 2007 season opener in Atlanta, April 21. Once again this year, the voice of the Montreal Impact on CJAD will be Rob Martier. He will be joined by Impact alumnus Grant Needham for game analysis. Just like last year, CJAD will air seven road games.

On the French side, the Impact signed a one-year deal with Sirius satellite radio (Infoplus 187). The partnership includes the broadcasting of 14 games, with a 30-minute pre-game and post-game shows for every match.

Radio-Canada will provide coverage on both its television and radio stations, with Claude Quenneville lending his voice to the Impact. The colour commentator remains to be confirmed.

Sirius’ first broadcast will be the Impact’s 14th home opener, Sunday, May 20 at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex, against the Seattle Sounders.

Both radio stations will also be on hand for the “home” games to be played outside Montreal against the two USL First Division expansion franchises, namely in Quebec City on July 1 against the California Victory, and in Sherbrooke on July 8 against the Carolina RailHawks.

Furthermore, the four meetings against Montreal’s biggest rivals, the Rochester Raging Rhinos, will all be broadcast on radio.

In addition to the games aired on the radio, 14 Montreal Impact matches will be broadcast live on Radio-Canada television in 2007.
