A bit of a changing of the guard here. RJB Posted October 19, 2006 Share Posted October 19, 2006 I've found that in the past this award hasn't gone to the best player, but the one who garners the most publicity. I'm specifically thinking about Mia Hamm winning it when she was no longer the best of the sport. But I suppose that one could easily argue that the men's award is the same.
