Andrew W
Liam Girard (University of Denver) was the only Canadian on the list of 121 players submitted for the superdraft. Players are put on the list by MLS team officials, so teams cannot go off the list to draft a player. MLS draft list When you consider NCAA Canadian players who will be seniors and be automatically eligible for the 2007 Superdraft, the names that we would be more familiar with from age-group NTs include: Josh Wagenaar, Tyler Hemmings, Matt Britner, Riley O'Neill and Nathan Li. Younger familiar players like Tyler Rosenlund, Kerr McLeod, Alex Elliott, Mike D'Agostino would have to enter via the Generation Adidas program which will likely have to expand to include Canucks. That said, with the other teams in MLS not likely to select Canadians (unless they are a top prospect), the Toronto team will probably go with the best player available theory of drafting in the Superdraft and then load up on Canadians in the supplemental draft to fill out the reserves. That said, some of those players would have a shot at being drafted in the four rounds that comprise the Superdraft.
