LUFC
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/wbc/index.jsp Canada is in Group B with The U.S., Mexico and South Africa.
Breakwood
We should be able to advance through the group. A win against South Africa and Mexico and a loss to the States. The will have to be carefull still because Mexico is a pretty good squad
canso
Mexico has some good pitchers, but aside from Vinny Castilla, not much power in the lineup. Should be a fun tournament, especially the second round!
argh1
Not a bad draw...Taiwan & China in... Cuba playing in the States alot of politics ......surprised Columbia isn't there? Glad we're not in with Japan, Taiwan & Korea.
beachesl
Colombia has a few good local leagues along the Carribean coast and on San Andres Islands, but doesn't have the depth in players. Nicarauga could probably field a better team (they have done well at several World Championships). Either country would probably be the "replacement" if Cuba decides not to participate as discussed in the lead-off article in the site above http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/wbc/article.jsp?content=071105_a , although Thailand could be a candidate too. Nobody does visual brackets like the Yanks, they really crank their chain! Only thing missing is the location. Japan (Tokyo Dome) is the location for the Asian Group, probably Florida for the Dominican Republic Group, certainly Puerto Rico for the PR Group (where the Cubans would not have a rough a reception) Group, and probably Arizona for the US and Canada Group (scads of western Canadians snowbirding in Arizona). No announcements where the second round will actually be in the US, probably in Arizona and Florida. Good for baseball, but globally it will never be able to exceed the impact of the World Cup of Cricket, much less the World Cup of Soccer as the organizers have expressed. I remember reading somewhere that the World Cup of Cricket was 4th in advertisers dollars spent after World Cup of Soccer, Olympics and World Cup of Rugby. Maybe World Baseball Classic will sneak in there. Yes Colombia should be there!
