Ashton Gate
Specially for Argh 1: Marc Bircham of QPR, surplus to the requirements of the CANADIAN MENS NATIONAL TEAM has an immediate IMPACT on QPR tour to Ibiza as QPR make FIVE Star start to the 05' Copa de Ibiza. Also scoring was Tommy Docherty of Northern Ireland, recently robbed by the CANADIAN MENS NATIONAL TEAM. Rangers booked their place in the Copa de Ibiza final after a 5-0 win in the opening game. Ian Holloway's men blasted their way to a comprehensive win over local side Sant Antoni and will now play the winners of Tuesday's game between Coventry City and Huddersfield Town. Martin Rowlands, Paul Furlong and Marc Bircham all got on the score sheet in the first half. After the break, Gareth Ainsworth and Stefan Moore helped to wrap up a successful night's football. There was a start for new boy Tommy Doherty who showed some impressive touches before being asked to leave the field for a spat of 'afters'. But he more than played his part in the opening stages as Rangers ran riot. Rowlands opened the scoring on 22 minutes when he rounded the keeper and slotted home from an acute angle. Straight from the kick off, Furlong struck from the exact same spot to double the scoreline. Bircham made it three when he lifted the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the box. The second half saw multiple changes to allow Holloway to take a look at some of his new squad members. It was soon 4-0 when Ainsworth hammered home from close range. Then, Moore netted his first QPR goal, sticking the ball away at the second time of asking. Rangers will play their next game on Thursday after Coventry and Huddersfield meet tomorrow. Rangers first half: Royce, ****tu, Hislop, Cook, Doherty, Bircham, Furlong, Rowlands, Shimmin, Sturridge, Hugo Rangers second half: Cole, Evatt, Bignot, Brown, Gallen, Santos, Moore, Bean, Ainsworth, Miller, Chambers

DJT
Mr. Fussy says that it's not really "one day to kick off". The 2005/2006 season technically began with the Intertoto Cup on June 18 (which was technically before the end of the 2004/2005 season).
