There was nothing before the preliminary round. Officially there is no limit to the number of teams that are allowed to enter. Officially any men's senior team in Canada (amateur or professional) that is willing to pay the entrance fee (and presumably travel expenses) can enter.

Good to see a few games in the Ottawa area. I will definetly have to check them out.

I heard the games were being staged in Ottawa as the Nepean Hotspurs are chasing a CPSL team for next year, with it's TD as head coach. They're going to gage attendance at these games....

Ottawa's got the talent and fans to support a franchise in the CPSL, I think that's a given. Entrance fees could be the stumbling block.

The CPSL should be trying to gain more representation in the area, Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, to cut the travel distances down for Montreal and Ottawa with a more regionalized grouping of teams and cities; Ottawa/Montreal & Windsor/Toronto.

The hotspurs are one of the largest youth clubs in the region. At one point they were talking about buying a lower division French pro team and sending their youth players there once they were done the U-18.

So the money for a CPSL team should be there.
