Edgar Seems to be Fit Again - And Scores recently

Newcastle U18 3 Boro U18 0

A third consecutive home win within a fortnight for our table-topping side, who have also found the net three times in each of those games.

Second-from-bottom Boro held out for 15 minutes before young striker Andy Carroll marked his first start at this level by shooting home from Walton's layoff, after Liam Atkin had centred from the right.

The visitors then stepped up their efforts and caused United a few problems, notably through England youth international midfielder Anthony Peacock.

However Fraser Forster in the home goal held firm, although he was grateful for a 54th minute miss by Tom Craddock, the Boro striker picking up Edgar's loose pass and getting round Forster, only to put his shot onto the post when looking a certain scorer.

A slightly uncomfortable second half for Newcastle was eased by a second goal on 80 minutes, as substitute Paul O'Brien netted from close range after Walton had used his physical presence in the box.

And Walton played his part in our third goal with 8 minutes remaining, winning a free kick on the edge of the Boro box and then seeing 'keeper David Knight palm his shot out, only for David Edgar to follow up and sweep the ball high into the net.

Craddock's miserable day was completed in added time when he struck the woodwork again, this time from the penalty spot after Forster's attempted punched clearance caught Hines and referee Ryan (nice tattoo) gave the spot kick.

With six games remaining we're now 13 points clear in our section and virtually certain of going forward to the national final playoffs.

United: Forster, Atkin, Cave (Critchlow 52), Huntington, Edgar, Shanks, Smylie (Cavener 73), Deverdics, Carroll, Walton, Terrell (Paul O'Brien 75).

Subs n/u: Smith, T.Ameobi.
