RS
The semi-final round looks to be as gruelling as possible, with no real room for error in the home matches and intense pressure on our boys on the away legs. With that in mind, it looks like it'll take a pool of about 25 players to get us to the Hex. Below are my picks for the 25 we'll likely see: GK (3) Pat Onstad (San Jose Earthquakes)* Greg Sutton (Montreal Impact) Lars Hirschfeld (Dundee United?) DEFENCE (7) Jason DeVos (Ipswich Town)* Kevin McKenna (Hearts) Paul Stalteri (Werder Bremen)* Ante Jazic (FC Kuban)* Tony Menezes (Ganzu) Gabriel Gervais (Montreal Impact) Mark Watson (Charleston Battery)* Marco Reda (Sogndal) MIDFIELD (10) Iain Hume (Tranmere Rovers)* Julian DeGuzman (Hannover 96)* Atiba Hutchinson (Helsingborg) Daniel Imhof (FC St. Gallen)* Marc Bircham (QPR) Patrice Bernier (Tromso) Jim Brennan (Norwich)* Mike Klukowski (La Louviere) Josh Simpson (Millwall) Adrian Serioux (Millwall) FORWARDS (4) Tomasz Radzinski (Fulham)* Dwayne DeRosario (San Jose Earthquakes)* Paul Peschisolido (Derby County) Olivier Occean (Odd Grenland) * - Denotes likely starters The starts listed above aren't necessarily who I'd go with, but rather who I think Frank would prefer as his starting XI for the majority of the matches, based on what we've seen from him so far. Obviously Hume wn't be able to start the first match due to his red card, so I think we'll likely see DeRo on the right side of midfield with Radz lining up alongside Pesch. I'd like to see what Occean can do playing alongside Radz, but Frank is not likely to experiment with his preferred lineup during WCQ matches, and rightfully so. Agh yes, completely forgot about that. Edited the above post. Man, I think this off-season has seen the most player movement for Canadians than any other year before.
