Cheeta
With the club sitting on an 18 million pound dept, Tynecastle not up to snuff by EUFA standards, and Hearts supporters getting used to being the best of the rest in the SPL the clubs rather dodgy financial footing and future continues to trouble fans and managment alike. This is one of those stories that isn't going away. Just start off by saying Hearts aren't going to go bankrupt. There are enough interested money bags about that the club, under this or that persons ownership will be around as a top 6 Scottish club forever. And with the shared grounds with Hibs idea a ghost (Great on paper. Crap in the real world) more and more the chorus seems to be singing a move to Murrayfield. With Tynecastle worth much of Hearts dept to the realtors, Murrayfield pretty close at hand, and Scottish Rugby willing to come to terms with shared use of the facility it's sounding more and more likely a move is a foot. Maybe sooner rather than later. As a note, Falkirk with their grounds issues had considered using Murrayfield if I remember rightly. Either way. Scottish Rugby is willing to do what it'll take to make the grounds football friendly which shouldn't be a hell of a lot. Stay tuned. There'll be lots of teeth showing over this one yet. Put your money on the move though. On the subject of Hearts, money, and dumping salaries. Injury prone greyhound Gary Wales is off to England on loan. Walsall in fact. Great young lad who needs to get back on track. Not exactly sure if the English 1st is the place to do it... Zig-Zagging attacking mid. Jean Louis Valois was outright released and is off to Spain's 2nd division and Almeria. Like Valois but he's expensive and a bit snake bitten this season. Bye, bye Jean Louis. With De Vries own injury woes this year it's getting thinner up front for Levein's Lads. Expecting to see more of Big Kev as a target as attacking options are narrowing. argh1
Hey UEFA told them no more games at Tynecastle . The debt , that seems to be a standard theme in British soccer. Why can't they keep Tynecastle for SPL and rent Murryfield? ( I don't know the name ) National Rugby Stadium for UEFA CUP. After all with the SPL being the prime example of giant teams plus others . They ain't never gonna qualify for anything but UEFA CUP!![}]

Cheeta
Tynecastle, or more appropriately the land it sits on is worth a small fortune. A scheme has been floated which would see Tynecastle sold and leased back to Hearts. This would of course be a temp. arrangement as the point of buying Tynecastle is for redevelopment. But the scheme would serve Hearts in that much of the clubs dept burden, a burden costing the side more than a million pounds annualy just to service never mind pay down, would be struck from the books while giving time for Hearts and their supporters to relocate to a new home. Murrayfield apparently. The cost savings of a shared facility has been loudly proclaimed. The thought on having hundreds of thousands of pounds freed up by moving to a shared lease park while allowing for some elbow room for growth just adds to the argument for a move to some people. And they are pretty good arguments. And they're arguments very similiar to what are being made down at Easter Road.

argh1
Yes , but selling real estate?? Why give up the only hard asset the club has; seems like a woefull attempt at satisfying current debtors and losing future credit. If the SPL allows Heart of Midlothian to use this field. There is only short term gain in selling their house and renting an apartment. As I said before , for UEFA CUP , rent the Rugby Stadium. Some of us own a KIA and rent a LINCOLN when we go home to see the family & friends.

Cheeta
quote:Originally posted by argh1 Yes , but selling real estate?? Why give up the only hard asset the club has; seems like a woefull attempt at satisfying current debtors and losing future credit. The argument goes Hearts have peaked on their revenues. Aside from an unlikely windfall from a EUFA Cup run they're not going to make any more money then what they currently are. Or at least not a significant amount. Given their loosing money every year, the club is spiraling hopelessly towards broke. Even in the SPL, the larger clubs still need fairly large budgets and with all the belt tightening that has been going on the last couple of seasons there is no more fat to be found for trimming. So, if things remain as they are, Hearts go broke, the administrators sell off Tynecastle and other hard assets to repay creditors and Edinburgh's one club poorer. No more Tynecastle. No more club. Dept has reached critical mass. And as grim as it looks to the bean counters, they can see that if Hearts were run out of less expensive facilities (such as Murrayfield) without the weight of massive dept payments (sell Tynecastle) they would be Scotlands most profitable football club. Aside from Celtic. But we're talking apples, not oranges. Motherwell and Dundee are currently in administration in Scotland. Hibs and Livingston could be next. And the depts combined of every other Scottish club in every division don't come close to touching the sea of red washing over Ranger's heads. argh1
Livingston ,called in the administrators on Tuesday. That's three teams in administration in the SPL. Let's hope this league can get it's act to-gether soon.
argh1
A further note to Livingston's move to administration. It seems the company that owns DUMFERMLINE'S EAST END PARK, is part of this administration. ( a subsiduary of )Forcing DUNFERMLINE to issue a statement, stating there are no worries of administration in the near future, as the club has a 125 year lease at the field. The question now is , with whom , do they have lease agreement. If STADIA PROPERTIES are in administration.[?] It is also rumoured that DUNFEMLINE's players have been paid by cheque instead of direct-deposit,due to cash-flow problems.Post dated must be assumed[?]
drewsome
Usually the Old Firm are neck & neck. Rangers got promptly bounced right out of Europe. The League is considering a "no new signings while you're in administration and start the next season at -10 points" rule.
Cheeta
The Livi move is not a surprise I guess. They've actualy been a success story for the most part and a lot of clubs are looking at the City Grounds and Celtic Park as examples of stadium improvements doing wonders for revenues. Livingston has been day to day with revenues most of the season. Might still be clear and free if the Hearts match saturday hadn't have been postponed. Hard luck that. Rangers have had more than their usual share of injuries this year and it's showing. There's no money for new signings and Alex McLeish, of whom I am no great fan, couldn't manage to find water if he fell out of a boat never mind steer Rangers to victory through hard times. Boy, do they miss Amoruso. They miss Amoruso, big. But then again, who cares? Rangers can rot for all I care. I remember as a wee cub being assured by my football mentors that no, Rangers weren't God's gift to Scotland. Celtic are. And sooner or later they'd have something in the trophy case to prove it. A lot of lean years not so very long ago. A LOT of lean years.
