Young Hornets Jack Smith and Elliot Godfrey visited Hemel Hempstead General Hospital to take part in the opening of the new MRI and Nuclear Medicine Scanners.

During their visit they met patients, staff and visited a number of hospital departments including X-Ray, MRI and Nuclear Medicine.

Nicki Hattingh, who oversees fundraising and PR for the Hornets’ newly-formed Community Sports & Education Trust said: “Watford is delighted to be involved in the official opening of this new facility. This is an important and impressive addition to the services the hospital can provide to the West Hertfordshire community.”

Clinical Director Dr. Tony Divers added: "Everyone in the Trust is overjoyed with the new MRI and Nuclear Medicine scanners. This will benefit many of our patients across West Hertfordshire with various conditions including cancer. The X-ray reception area has also been improved and has modernised our service fit for the 21st century.”

The new scanner centre is part of the new building programme undertaken at Hemel Hempstead General Hospital which includes a new fracture clinic and a determatology treatment centre.
