ted Posted January 5, 2004 Share Posted January 5, 2004 It is my understanding that the PCSL is a sanctioned Div. 3 League but I cannot find anything that says this on the website (www.pcsl.bc.ca). So far as I know all players are amateurs but I believe there have been paid players in the past (The league has been in operation for over 50 years.) I'm pretty sure it is. The thing about these types of questions is that it's all relative. There is no absolute definition for "Division 1", "Division 2", etc. Whether a particular league is "Division 1" or "Division 2" or whatever all depends on how it compares to other leagues. In countries with promotion and relegation this is simple; in Canada, not so much. Clearly the Canadian A-League clubs have to be considered Division 1 in Canada (it's irrelevant that the A-League is Division 2 in the United States).
