Luis_Rancagua
Its about time that this idea should have been implemented years ago. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/3100831.stm SPL considers expansion Sunday, 27 July, 2003 The Scottish Premier League could be extended to 14 teams if the idea is met with a positive response at a meeting of the 12 current member clubs next month. SPL executive chairman Lex Gold has organised a brainstorming session for 21 August at which the structure of the league will be top of the agenda. Gold says a move to invite two additional clubs to join the league has already found favour with some of the SPL's members, although others are opposed to expansion. Also on the agenda at the meeting will be the controversial SPL split and a possible overhaul of the under-21 league. "Since we lost 15 months with in-fighting, it's time to get back to moving the game forward again," Gold said. "We'll be looking at how we can develop the game, although I realise that no structure in football is without blemish. "I don't sense an appetite for a 16-team league among other clubs. "Some are keen on a 14-team league, some are totally opposed. Some are keen on a 10 and a second division of 10. "I will have a better feel of change in August after the meeting." amacpher
When Celtic and Rangers routinely score 5+ goals/game I'm thinking there are already too many teams in the Scottish Premier League AMacPherson
Cooks
I agree. The Old Firm has been feeding on teams like St. Mirren and St. Johnstone, sho routinely straddle between Div. 1 and the Premiership. Two more clubs to the Premiership would be adding more fodder for the slaughter. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Old Firm clubs bugger off, but that is an entirely different debate. Cheers. ------------------------ http://members.tripod.com/stormwatch2001/ - Home of the StormChasers
