Moscato And Rustad Recieve Grant

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association is pleased to announce the selection of Carmelina Moscato of Mississauga, Ontario and Clare Rustad of Saltspring Island, British Columbia for $10,000 each in grants from the Pure Determination Fund, an initiative of the Dairy Farmers of Canada in partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee.

The Pure Determination Fund is a four-year, $800,000 initiative that is awarding 80 grants to promising athletes pursuing their Olympic dreams. The grants will be split up between athletes who are preparing to compete in the Olympic Winter Games and the Olympic Summer Games.

“Having been an Olympic partner since the Nagano Games, we are proud to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Canadian Olympians for many Games to come, thanks to this initiative,” said Leo Bertoia, President of Dairy Farmers of Canada.

“We are thrilled to work in partnership with Dairy Farmers of Canada on this exciting initiative to support high-performance athletes,” said Canadian Olympic Committee CEO, Chris Rudge. “The Pure Determination Fund is providing much needed support to young Canadian athletes.”

Both players have earned caps with the Women’s World Cup team and participated with the Under-19 team that earned silver in the Final of the FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship Final against the United States on September 1, 2002 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Athletes must be in training to represent Canada at the Olympic Games, be ranked between 6th and 15th in the world in individual events or between 6th and 12th in team sports, be members of a national team’s development program to be eligible for the fund.
