munseahawk
I'm surprised it took this long for that statement to come out. To me, this always seemed to be something offered up to sway the 2022WC vote.

cfof
MLS first raised the possibility of changing its schedule at the same time the United States was bidding for the 2022 World Cup. FIFA awarded that tournament to Qatar. "We thought it would be smart to show the international football community that we were open to do some things that would more align with the international confines of the sport," Garber said. "That is probably less important for us now." I laughed when I read this, and actually love the fact that Garber was honest enough to admit that the proposed change was a sop to FIFA to help the USA bid. "That is probably less important for us now" is a simply hilarious verbal smack, worded just perfectly.
