One snippet not mentioned in the 2010 Roster Dance thread is that he doesn't think in terms of having a holding and an attacking midfielder but expects both central midfielders in a 4-4-2 to stay deep or go box to box as the flow of the game dictates and based on what the other guy is doing. This was in response to a question about JDG's role.

Is anyone a lock to partner JDG in the middle? Seems the two center mids will need a good understanding to play in Preki's system, the sort of understanding that might take a lot of playing time to develop.

Lots of options on that Cronin, Sanyang, LaBrocca and DeRosario could all play there on Saturday as could Saric if he is officially signed in time so I don't think anyone is a lock at this point. With DeRosario, Cronin, Saric, LaBrocca, Peterson, Brennan, Barrett and to a lesser extent Gala and Ibrahim also credible options out wide in midfield this season the roster is in better shape now than many/most seem to think.
