The Lady Lynx fall to 11-2-1 (34 points) on the season, their best-ever record, topping their 11-3-0 mark recorded in their inaugural campaign in 2005. The team finishes in second place in the Northern Division for the fourth consecutive year, and will host the Laval Comets this coming Wednesday in a Northern Division playoff match-up at 7:30 PM at Centennial Park Stadium in Etobicoke. Rochester finishes the year at 6-6-2 (20 points), and clinch fourth place in the division, also their best-ever finish. Rochester opened the scoring in rainy conditions, with former Lady Lynx Natalie Martineau beating Elise Kuhar-Pitters in the 15th minute to give the Rhinos the early lead. Stefania Morra notched her tenth goal of the year three minutes before half to equalize, sending the teams into the intermission level at one. The Rhinos bagged the game winner three minutes into the second frame. Kuhar-Pitters and Martineau came together while chasing a loose ball inside the box, but the Lady Lynx keeper was called for a foul on the play by the referee, who awarded Rochester a penalty kick. Sonia Curvelo stepped to the spot for the Rhinos and banged it home to put them up 2-1. The Lady Lynx launched wave after wave of attacks on the Rhinos goal, but Toronto was unable to find the goal to equalize. The Rhinos defense held for the remainder of the match, and Rochester took the points in upset fashion, their first-ever victory over the Lady Lynx. Stefania Morra and Brittany Bisnott finished in a dead-heat atop the scoring race for the Lady Lynx, with each recording ten goals and one assist during the regular season. The Lady Lynx now head to the W-League playoffs, and will host the Laval Comets on Wednesday evening, July 23, at 7:30 PM at Centennial Park Stadium.
