Attendance was about 500 on this warm evening with the sun still out in the North West.

White Eagles got off to a dream start with two goals so early in the game. Wolves’ manager Armand DiFruscio said the team really misses their tall defender Matt Waddington who left the team for a job in the USA. The Wolves did give up too many scoring opportunities and goalie Claudio Perri had to make a few point blank stops or the score could have been doubled. Some of these chances could be chalked up to the Wolves being forced to press for goals and being caught short at the back.

Dan Pelc earned the shut out for the White Eagles by making a few routine saves when needed.

The Rogers Community Channel broadcast this game as their Friday choice. Former Toronto Lynx goalie Theo Zagar was providing the colour commentary. As the play-by-play commentator Ben Ennis said, Theo could offer insight until a few players on most teams in the league that have a player that’s crossed through the Lynx over the years. Tonight’s game had Nikola Budalic on White Eagles and Carlo Arghittu of the Wolves. I went home and watched a tape of tonight’s World Cup Qualifier and on Canada’s national team was Paul Stalteri, Pat Onstad, and Dwayne DeRosario (although they were on the 1997 team before Theo’s time). More recent player Ali Gerba also played for Canada. Even other world cup news had a story about Bermuda’s John Barry Nusum helping his country to a possible upset of Trinidad & Tobago.
