Guest speedmonk42 Posted April 3, 2006 Share Posted April 3, 2006 Uh since the other thread has devolved into..well crap... Been in Montreal for 24 hours now. Hiked my butt up Mont Royal today and looking out from the swiss place, is that barren chunk of land I see by the bridge where the stadium is/was going to go? That is an awfully major chunk of emptiness so close to a major city like this. I am curious how people feel about the possibility of the stadium being put at the Olympic place instead? I kind of feel that if you have already convinced 10000+ people to show up regularly to one place..... improving it may not be a bad idea. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Daniel Posted April 3, 2006 Share Posted April 3, 2006 If you read French, check out the Impactsoccer.com forum (or babelfish the page). What it comes down to is access and land. The Impact want essentially free land on which they can build a soccer complex which includes 3-4 community/practice fields and an indoor complex on top of the stadium. At CCR, they have the access but not the land. At the Tecnoparc, they have the land but not the access (with the new casino project falling through, we'd be talking 2.5km from the nearest metro exit and a sporadic shuttle bus service - ok for game days, not for regular use). The orignal location of the new stadium was a bad choice that had failed before. And the whole monorail/casino was an absurd idea. The Olympic park site is a much better location.
