Canada Drops 3-0 Decision to Norway

Canada wrapped up its three game tour of Scandinavia with a 3-0 loss to Norway in Sarpsborg, Norway Tuesday. The hosts opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Dagny Mellgren converted a penalty after Randee Hermus was judged to have had a handball in the area and was yellow carded.

The Norwegians then scored two quick goals in the second half to secure the win. Solveig Gulbrandsen scored in the 50th minute and Trine Ronning wrapped up the scoring in the 52nd minute.

The Canadians return to Canada tomorrow.

Canadian women wrap up Euro tour

SARPSBORG, Norway (CP) - Canada's women's soccer team wrapped up a three-game European tour with a 3-0 loss to Norway on Tuesday.

Canada opened the tour with a 4-3 win over Denmark last Wednesday before losing to Sweden 3-1 on Saturday. Norway, formerly coached by Canadian head coach Even Pellerud, is ranked No. 3 in the world while Canada is No. 11.

Dagny Mellgren opened the scoring Tuesday in the 26th minute after converting a penalty. Canada's Randee Hermus handled the ball in the box and was yellow carded, giving Norway a penalty shot.

Norway put it away with two quick goals in the second half when Solveig Gulbrandsen scored in the 50th minute and Trine Ronning found the back of the net just two minutes later.
