Kudos to Fox Sports World Canada as they present Werder Bremen at Hannover 96 tomorrow AM. Paul Stalteri's Bremen team have crept quietly back into the Bundesliga title race, moving into 3rd place last week with the win over Kasey Keller and Borussia Moenchengladbach, despite some key injuries. They will be pressed tomorrow as both starting strikers Klasnic and Klose are out with injury, although the youngster Aaron Hunt did well last week and sub Valdez is no slouch. [update: looks like Klasnic will be in the squad after all.]

Hannover have dropped back a bit and also have some problems, with the super rookie defender Per Mertesacker out last week and likely again tomorrow. Julian de Guzman may be forced into playing left back if they go flat back four (the usual Lienen formation), or may get to stay in midfield in a 3-5-2.

On Sunday in the Bundesliga 2, Tam Nsaliwa and 1.FC Saarbruecken hope to get back on track as they take on Eintracht Frankfurt in a 6 pointer (the clubs are level on points, in 5th and 6th place respectively.

In the Regional League South, Nik Ledgerwood and 1860 Muenchen amateurs finally get back in action with a visit to take on Jahn Regensburg tomorrow, but Dylan Hughes is out with a knee problem indefinitely.

Some definite good news out of Hannover and Maycoll Canizales is back playing regularly. He had a full game in midfield last week against Hamburg side Altona 93 in the Oberliga Niedersachsen/Bremen.

Hannover get beat 4-1 by Werder Bremen in the fog. Werder Bremen keep pace with Bayern Munich and remain in 3rd place. Hannover drop to 9th place. Both Canadians were on the field for 90 minutes, with Julian de Guzman playing defensive mf for Hannover and Paul Stalteri in at right back for the defending champions.

A good start to the 2nd half of the Regional League South season, as Nik Ledgerwood and 1860 Muenchen beat Jahn Regensburg 2-0 on the road, with Nik going 90 minutes in midfield.

If anybody taped the Hannover/Bremen game, I would strongly suggest watching it without the sound. The play-by-play man / commentator was just god awful. He said Hannover were in the Bundesliga 2 in 2002/2003 and thanked Lienen for promotion (it was in fact Rangnick who is now doing a very good job coaching Schalke). Julian joined the club in the summer of 2002 (when they were entering the Bundesliga 1) with a 3 year deal under Rangnick. He also was extremely poor on the play by play getting about every 3rd name wrong throughout the game. The best was how he said Krupnikovic was an old looking 21 year old. He should check his math as the international from Serbia / Montenegro was born in 1973.

Yeah, he was terrible. Stalteri and DeGuzman seemed to be everywhere because he kept calling other players their names. I especially liked how the ball was cleared to the left forward Valdez and he said Stalteri picks up the ball. Man, I wish I was that quick going from right back to left forward just like that. ;)

Eintracht Frankfurt handled visiting 1.FC Saarbruecken today 3-0. Tam Nsaliwa was up against German international prospect Jermaine Jones and South Korean international Du-Ri Cha (son of Bun-Kun Cha).

The 96 reserves won in Emden 1:0 and Canizales scored the goal. :)

July de Guzman has been pretty bad for the last 5 games.

This are the kicker ratings (desrved I might add) :

gameday 18 vs. Leverkusen = 4

gameday 19 vs. Bielefeld = 4

gameday 20 vs. Dortmund = 5

gameday 21 vs. Freiburg = 4

gameday 22 vs. Bremen = 5

Maybe he's already in Spain with his thoughts??

To be successfull in LaLiga he needs to play better than right now, that's for sure.
