tc-in-bc Posted January 26, 2015 Share Posted January 26, 2015 The CSA asserts that Tom Sermanni is not an assistant coach with CANWNT and no longer with Canada as relayed through recent tweets by E.Dulhanty and D. Squizzato. The Keepers Notes/ Mixxed Zone Podcast interview with Tom Sermanni ( to be released this Tuesday ) quotes him as saying that he will be with Canada for all of its tournaments. When asked about his role with Canada, Tom Sermanni said "Basically I'm there as one of the assistant coaches." In addition, Sermanni said he was with CANWNT in China and will be with the team in the Cyprus Cup, the French friendly and the 2015 WWC. Tom Sermanni has a mountain of experience: 10 years with the Matildas during two stints. 3 years as both a coach and an assistant coach in WUSA league (2001-2003) He helped create the Australian W-League in 2008 ; he recently ran US Soccer for 2 years (2013-14); and now he's assisting Canada's WWC run. If Sermanni stays with Canada then his strong experienced resume makes him a leading candidate to succeed John Herdman, if or when Herdman wants to leave.
