"Former professional to lead Valley soccer

Wayne Evans, a former professional footballer from the United Kingdom, has been appointed director of player and coach development for the Valley District Soccer Association.

The association made the announcement on Thursday.

The new release said Evans has played more than 540 professional games and has a solid reputation as a youth coach in the United Kingdom.

"Our goal was a simple one, to appoint a teacher," Keith Fuller, VDSA president said in the release. "In Wayne Evans we have found someone who through their skill, knowledge, experience and passion, will promote and develop the game of soccer at all levels within the Valley District."

The release said Evans is excited to relocate in a new country.

The Valley District Soccer Association was founded in the early 1980s and was incorporated in 1996 as a not for profit society for administering soccer programs in the Valley region under the auspices and sanction of Soccer Nova Scotia. The VDSA is responsible for the support and sanctioning of 16 separate clubs from Clare to West Hants."
