Goalkeeper Tony Caig made two saves off six shots to record his fourth shutout of the season.

The Whitecaps now head off for four straight road games, starting Monday, July 3, against the Rochester Raging Rhinos. Their next home game is Sunday, July 16, against the Montreal Impact.

Scoring Summary:

9' Vancouver - David Testo (Joey Gjertsen)

Gjertsen pass from the left found Testo who neatly lobbed the ball high over the Portland keeper.

63' Vancouver - David Testo (Steve Kindel)

Testo doubled the lead with a header from Kindel's cross. It was Testo's third goal of the season.

66' Vancouver Tony Donatelli (Joey Gjertsen)

Gjertsen's cross was headed down and in by Donatelli for his second of the season.

Game Notes:

The Whitecaps started quickly and controlled play for most of the first half. Just before the opening goal Joey Gjertsen had a breakaway in the seventh minute, but it was blocked by goalkeeper Josh Saunders.

With the game still in the balance, both teams had chances in the second half. A header by Drew McAthy at 46' went just wide of the net, while at the other end, Joey Gjertsen broke in on the left but couldn't get his shot on target. Moments before Testo's insurance goal, Dave Morris sent a good header at goal but Josh Saunders made the save for the visitors.

Tony Caig made a late save to preserve the shutout, as he stopped an 84th minute blast from Luke Kreamalmeyer.

Martin Nash surpassed the 10,000 minute mark in his career, while running his consecutive games streak to 51.

The Vancouver win snapped Portland's eight-game undefeated streak.
