Guest Can. in UK
FROM SKYSPORTS: Montreal sign midfield prospect Sunday, 11 July 2004 by Simon Fudge A-League club Montreal Impact have signed highly-rated defensive midfielder Adrian Cann from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids. The Canadian Olympic Under-23 international was released by The Rapids recently after the MLS club signed Cuban striker Alberto Delgado late last month. Cann joins the Quebec-based outfit until the end of the season, as he looks to improve his chances of making a move to Europe and playing for Frank Yallop's full Canada side in the future. The Thornhill, Ontario-born player, who can also play as a sweeper, was a US College stand-out at the University of Louisville in Kentucky before being selected 16th overall in last year's MLS SuperDraft by The Rapids. Prior to that, The Impact had drafted him in December 2003 and following his release from Colorado, Montreal brought Cann back to Canada to see out the current season with the American Second Division outfit. Despite being born and raised in Canada, Cann also holds Slovakian EU and Jamaican passports. He has some experience in European football after training with French club Lille's reserve side and appearing for their affiliated side Tourcoing between January and May of 2003.
