N-A
Terry played in a Bury behind closed doors friendly today. Played 90 mins Bury losing 5:1 to Oldham Athletic at Boundry Park. The squads were mostly youth and fringe first team players

mattbin
It may have had to do with the rules of the FA for friendlies. I remember Jason Bent, when he was trying to get in with Preston North End but was having work permit troubles, played for PNE in a closed-doors friendly; it was the only way they could get him on the field other than in practices, apparently. So I suppose these closed-door friendlies happen from time to time to get around the usual eligibility rules and so on. But this is just a guess, if anyone cares to yadda yadda yadda. Allez les Rouges, M@ P.S. I am thinking that the term "to Finland" could take the place, on this board, of the term "yadda yadda yadda". Alternatively, "to Suomi". Gordon
quote:Originally posted by marcl_19 why was it behind closed doors? I think that anything "open" requires police notification/approval and the presence of stewards. probably some liability issues involved as well if played in the stadium or practice ground.
