Luis_Rancagua
This news comes directly from Vlatko Ivanovic. Here's what Vlatko had to say about Dutra: "...At last some news about Waldemar Dutra in our local papers. Taking part in training is Valderam Dutra. He is 20 year old captain of Canadian U-20 team, who came to Osijek not to help the team but to learn something. N.K. Osijek chairman Tihomir Maršiæ: Him being here doesn't cost us anything because evereything pays agency which brought him. He shouldn't be regarded as a player from which we will have benefits. He is in Osijek to expand his football knowledge, and in return we have the opportunity to send our older players during the off-season to earn some money..." If I do recall, Dutra has indeed signed a 1 year contract, with an option to extend for another year.

Luis_Rancagua
Vlatko, do you expect Waldo Dutra to start anytime soon with the 1st team??? Or is Dutra expected to train with the reserve squad for at least some time before he joins the Senior squad???
wlatz
It's very hard to tell. We have bad memories of non-yugoslav foreigners at Osijek so coach probably will not rush too much with bringing him on, and maybe he will not play at all. Maybe in Youth league for start and then he could progress. Competition is very strong, especially in the center of midfield. I wish him good luck cause he's gonna need it! wlatz
Maybe you could tell me where did you find the information that he signed a 1 year contract?
Luis_Rancagua
Vlatko, the information came directly from a German news article which comes directly from the office of Dutra's agent Mike Kratky in Munich. What the article states in German is that Dutra signed a 1 year contract, with an option to extend for another year. Here's the article: "Waldemar Dutra erhält Vertrag In Kroatien" Waldo Dutra, 20 jähriges Mitlied der U-20 Nationalmannschaft Kanadas unterzeichnete einen Einjahresvertrag (zzgl.
wlatz
Dutra didn't play on Saturday vs. Zadar, he didn't play for junior team vs. Marsonia and he didn't play vs. Virovitica in 1st round of Croatian Cup! He wasn't on the bench either.
Luis_Rancagua
Vlatko, do you know the whereabouts of Dutra in Croatia??? Do you think you could further investigate this matter for us and perhaps get back to us the minute you discovered something on Dutra???
wlatz
It's very hard to get informations about Osijek. Osijek was first 2 years ago and then had a string of misfortunes and bad results so it's not easy to find any info... NK Osijek doesn't have web-site, only half of page in local newspaper, even less in national papers, so it's really hard...
wlatz
Osijek lost to Slaven Belupo 1-2 yesterday, and guess who wasn't playing? After the game our coach was very sad and disappointed with the performance of many players and has said that there will be some cuts in the near future, so Dutra will maybe get a chance. Luis_Rancagua
I hope this is a positive news for Dutra. I would love to see him in 1st action with the senior team. I just hope that Dutra is not too younge for the challenge.
wlatz
It could be, atmosphere here is pretty bad, some of our players were offended because they had to start in the first team, and these are the players that ussually don't start the game so probably the younger players will get the chance. In my oppinion Dutra has to work hard and give 100% in every training and he will eventually get the chance.
