Ottawa falls in semi-final to Chicago.

[August 8th - Virginia Beach] The wild ride that has been the Ottawa Fury's first foray into the W-League play-offs came to an end today with a 3-0 loss to the Central Conference Champion Chicago Cobras.

Chicago forward Kristen Graczyk did all the damage to the Fury's hope of reaching the W-League final scoring twice and setting up the other Cobra goal. Julianne Sitch scored the other Chicago marker.

Despite strong performances from Isabelle Morneau in the back and Allison Kelly and Marie-Eve Nault in the middle of the field the Fury were not able to overcome playing without starters Taryn Swiatek, Linda Consolante, Leah Robinson and Rhian Wilkinson. The team had a few isolated chances during the game but were never able to build any sustained pressure on Chicago. Christine McCartney had the Fury's best chance in the second half but fired her shot straight into the keeper on a breakaway.

Chicago will now face the winner of tonight's other semi-final game between the Seattle Sounders and the Hampton Road Piranhas. The Fury will face the loser of that game in the third place game on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The final will be broadcast live by Fox Sports World at 5:00 pm.
