Obinna I think your post on committed players is very measured and fair.  We are just approaching the Hoilett thing with a little more trepidation, and cheering for Larin a little louder.  Again, it's a little more about sending that message that holding out is perfectly fine it will be forgiven immediately...but what you are saying about placing that same thing on Hoilett that we did on say, Hogreaves...you are exactly right.  And I even posted in one of my posts that those guys are part of our problem which I admit is totally unfair to Junior.
At the same time I said that we are going to support Junior joining this team (I certainly will).  I hope he is 100% committed from here on it.  It will take a little time and the accepting of multiple caps, and then the Hoilett thing will be a thing of the past, and we will no longer feel anything negative towards him.  It's already fading since yesterday honestly.
I said before I'm pretty positive about the team moving forward, and Obinna I definitely appreciate your measured discussion on the topic, without jumping to name calling and and condescending like some other posters.  Good on ya.

I agree that Akindele was the first domino! Here's to hoping for many more pleasant surprises and can't wait to cheer for this team in person alongside you and the rest of the Voyageurs!

Frankly, spoken like a newer follower that wasn't around last cycle or other years of frustration.  Which is weird, cuz you were watching all last cycle.  Those posters aren't jokes.  The mixed feelings are real, because where were you when we needed you, and why now when your club career is failing?  Dude, let's be honest, most of us are thinking right now that if he was still in the Premier League with great reviews this wouldn't have happened.
Canada as his backup choice.  Canada because England dreams are fully dashed.

That said, we are all trying to get over it and welcome him aboard, because he HAS chosen us, and that puts him solidly WITH us...but with mixed feelings wondering what would have happened had he actually been a star.  Would he have tried to have been another hogreaves?  Probably.

hahaha you've got a point of course, I was merely commenting on the emotional tone of this thread, and you at least gotta admit that I hit the nail on the head there.  In terms of sending a message, you're right, but I guess I choose to look at it as, well, we are working out, doing our thing, gaining in confidence, and well.. kinda getting Hot.  Lol or maybe I just need to stop watching days of our lives?

I'm actually excited for the news too, or I wouldn't be here.  Saying it again, glad he's finally putting on the red.

lol yes we can blame her.   Again the big worry, as always, is making the statement that it's okay to hold out and wait for better options, because Canada as a program has often suffered because of these attitudes.  Welcoming Junior with completely open arms and no discussion means that it is always okay to hold out.  And because that hurts the Canadian soccer program, I think that this is a point worth discussing.
Is that so unfair?  Just for a second let us ignore any of the other perhaps unfair emotional responses by myself and others (which I don't think were overboard), but let's throw them aside just for a minute, and speak to that point alone?

Jr. Hoilett does not need team Canada. Team Canada needs Jr. Hoilett. It really is as simple as that.

.@lloydbarker11 It used to be an honour to represent one's country; now, it is simply a matter of professional convenience?

And this would also be a good thing. A Canadian positioning himself to play on a Canadian team...
Let's be happy for good things.

Hoilett is telling Canadian supporters to come support the team, despite the fact that he hasn't supported the team one bit until half an hour ago.
If he's here for the long haul, fantastic! My viewpoint on him will change. Until then, we have a reason to be skeptical.

Telling us to support the team when he's done shit all?  He's talking like a player who has been around and is urging us to come out and support the team because they need us.

Let's not even acknowledge the bellend.  Sure clap him, cheer if he scores, but we have players who actually are committed, let's focus on them.

As someone who watched closely and postedd during the 2014, 2010 and 2006 cycles, I want to say that my attitude towatds this is more in line with JG's, not with yours. Just because someone is happy to see him suit up doesn't necessarily mean they are speaking like a "new follower".
I was around during the JDG2 hype and frusturation, the Bunbury hype and frusturation, the Begovi....you get my point.
I would have loved to see him suit up last cycle when we were so close but I have long moved on. For whatever the reason it wasn't time for him, who am I to judge.
The reality is that we are getting a player who is still 25 years old. My perspective is that since he held out for so long, he must really be clear that this is what he wants. That is better than someone like Cavallini jumping in and then pulling out, isn't it?
I predict we have ZERO commitment issues with Hoilett from here on in.
And I welcome him with open arms!
    GO CANADA!!!

I'll believe it when he's on the field, same as others.  It's nice to know he's considering it, but hell, after Julian talked about Jono...

For those wondering about Simon Thomas, he will be staying with the Calgary Foothills organization.

This basically takes him off the CMNT radar, of course.  For me personally, I will be watching him play this year.
