It finally happened - Bell and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (or Hi-tech FC as I've taken to calling them lately) made the official announcement today that you will be able to get all your Whitecaps' MLS games streamed live on your mobile device or tablet.

When Bell were named as the club's founding sponsor, many of the clubs supporters (myself included), began to fantasize about the endless possibilities the partnership with the club would bring. Hopefully live streaming of games is just the beginning. Rogers started the trend for smart phone sports broadcasting in Canada when they took 80 per cent ownership of the Blue Jays a few years back and hopefully Bell will be taking it to the next level. We are all still waiting on a Whitecaps App but it should only be a matter of time now.

The service will only be available for Bell customers, which is kinda of a kick in the pants to the rest of us who are tied down to contracts with other companies, but such is life. If you do have a Bell smartphone or tablet you can add another $5 onto your monthly bill by purchasing 10 hours of the Mobile TV sports package. Your package will include all the Whitecaps matches, TFC's matches that will be shown on TSN and TSN 2, and the MLS All Star Game, MLS Playoffs and MLS Cup.

In addition to all Whitecaps FC matches, Bell mobility customers will also have access to 24 MLS matches featuring Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC on TSN and TSN2.

What would you like to see on a Whitecaps App? What about a Southsiders app with all your favourite Southsiders songs like Boundry Road as downloadable ringtones?
