The following Canadian soccer statements are all true:
- The provincial and federal governments have agreed to Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment’s plan to install grass at BMO Field. This makes it official.

- The Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact both pulled off huge, fat, sassy upsets in the USL-1 semifinals, and begin a home-and-home championship final on Saturday.
- Also on Saturday, Toronto FC plays for its playoff life, home to the lowly, eliminated, playoff-tripwire-if-there-ever-was-one San Jose Earthquakes. A sellout crowd at BMO Field will be living, dying and bellowing their lungs out with every kick.
- Julian DeGuzman – the finest player on Canada’s national team – makes his eagerly awaited and long, long-doubted home debut in a TFC uniform against San Jose. Our little team is growing up.
We’ve still got a long way to go – stadiums, teams, academies, administration – but that’s not a bad little snapshot of how far we’ve come lately.
And ain’t it fun?
Onward!
