He’s trying to reconcile the fact that he strongly dislikes Herdman and the fact that our collective joy relies on his success.

Hopefully he starts on the bench. The guy could use a wee rest.

What is the basis of this? Why only some players?

Oh look, people on the internet sharing their opinion about covid. I need to read this.
Oh wait, no, what I meant to say was, everybody shut the fuck up.

Oh look, people are still arguing about covid. Gee that’s interesting. If I was a mod I would ban the shit out of all you bickering Karens.

Just to illustrate my point though, if Hoilett made himself unavailable because his wife was giving birth or a family member was dying, would there be five pages of people giving their opinions on his decision? No there would not. So yes, it is people arguing about covid because it’s a subject that polarizes people and everyone feels the need to weigh in on it, like their opinion matters. I’ve done it in the past but in this particular moment I’m getting on my high horse and condemning the lot of you, because I’m a hypocrite.
    Carry on.

He turns 22 in January, so your 22-23 window could come as early as next transfer window.
Also, in terms of Lille selling players on, Luis Campos was the mastermind behind all of their latest big outgoings, and he is no longer with the club, so there's that. If I had to bet, barring a massive injury emergency with a top club that saw him make a move in January, I think we'll see him make a step up next summer for ~50M, probably to Liverpool.

I don't think he would step in and play everyday at 22, but depending on how Mane's season goes, I think there's definitely room to come off the bench, as well as room for some starts. Also, depending on injuries, he may be able to get more playing time than one would maybe expect. It would only be a matter of time until he became a regular starter though since Mane's form really seems to be dipping and there are some question marks around Salah's future as well. I would say Jota is more of a Mane replacement as I don't think he's as much of a central forward as David is. So David would be more of a Firmino replacement, and Firmino looks like he is getting farther away from a starting spot in that front three.
Long story short, he wouldn't walk into the starting XI, but I don't think he'd be far away from it if he continues with his strong form, especially considering the age of their attackers (not including Jota, who is part of the "new guard").
Also, a fun fact from losc.fr, David's run of winning every game he scores in (14 games) is the longest such streak in Ligue 1 since 1950. Talk about an impact player!

Yeah, I have to disagree with the sentiment here and say I'd rather see him on a better team. Lille just aren't very good, their attack is uninspired and now their defense is pretty leaky as well. I'd rather him go to a team where he had to fight for a place but when he played, he played with better players and had more chances to score.

Arsenal links coming out today. I would have to think that David would probably prefer Arsenal over Liverpool, as he’s said in the past he didn’t like Liverpool and used to idolize Henry and I think I remember him saying his dad was a gunners fan. Although if he wants to win, Arsenal is one of the last places he should want to go. Personally I would much rather live in London than Liverpool.

Those were bad results but against Haiti, it was some pretty horrendous individual errors that led to that game turning around on us, and against US (in the US) we dominated possession. The scoreline is obviously what mattered but it's not like they were running us off the park, they just took their chances. I'm not saying Herdman doesn't deserve part of the blame for those results but it's not like he completely lost the plot in those games either. I think he takes more criticism than he deserves when it comes to tactics. Or least he did, it seems like people are starting to come around in that sense in light of his recent results, which have been excellent.

To be fair that keeper closed him in a hurry and the ball was perfectly cutback, just unlucky with the finish. If Spoony finishes that, we're all calling David a genius.
