  1. He'll force one onto the bench. πŸ˜‰ I was reading somewhere that in the next two years, if Canada gets to the Octo, we'll be playing between 23-27 meaningful games, including the Gold Cup. We'll need all of our midfielders to be able to slot in and out at times, and depending on club fixtures we may not have certain players. Kaye will probably start some games, and not others. I think he is definitely a good choice as a starter, but I also think that what I've seen of Eustaqio over the last while means he could also start. Personally, the fact that we can name seven or eight midfielde
  2. First two rounds are one-offs at the higher ranked teams home, followed by two legs for the semis and finals. CAN2 is lowest in the rankings, so Forge would have to win twice on the road to be able to play a home date in the semis.
  3. Don't worry, you aren't the only one. Football is a little too commercialized sometimes. To me, a club's uniform colours should be sacred, especially the home kit. Calgary is also regionalized. The mountains are an hour and a half away. It makes the shirt nicer, though, as this city isn't exactly known for it's architecture.
  4. Larin isn't in their plans, but two 29 year olds might be? Another case of Turkish football paying for older players at the end of their prime while getting rid of anyone who can still grow. This actually says more about Beşiktas than Larin. Turkey is Europe's retirement league and has been for years. I hope Larin gets out of there and finds a team willing to let him play.
  5. Maybe they're loaning them to Ottawa! πŸ˜„
  6. I agree. I would have preferred a little more colour on both Forge's and Valour's uniforms, but I like the overall individual designs.
  7. Nope. The only time TSN even mentioned the MNT was when they were talking about Akinola. Even then, it was just in passing while explaining their lineup.
  8. Lots of info here too. From TSN, of all places: https://www.tsn.ca/source-canadian-premier-league-to-play-2020-season-in-charlottetown-1.1501390 Some notable points: first game will be Forge vs Cavalry; players can opt out, though none have yet; and there may be spectators, depending on conditions and regulations. Also all games will be on OneSoccer, but they may have games on other networks. I'm so happy. Finally it's happening. 😁
  9. You're right, I was quoting someone else. I apologize for that, and will edit my post
  10. I will stay out of commenting on the rest of this post, but there are studies that already show Covid causes permanent heart damage, brain damage to some people, and potential permanent lung issues. That includes people without symptoms. The economy is tied to our health, and if you're sick, you're not contributing to the economy. If you're dead, you definitely aren't. Someone else in an earlier post here wrote how a few people died a few years early, big deal But 97% of people survive. Now you have thousands of people under 40 who will be burdening our health system, because they caught Covi
  11. That was the only Cavalry game I didn't watch all of, actually. At half I went out. I think it was already 3-0 at that point, so I kind of knew it was over. Don't worry, Cavalry probably won't get more than five if they get to play each other this year. πŸ˜‰
  12. The way the third place spots are turning out, unless Vancouver beats Chicago tomorrow, I have a weird feeling TFC will be playing the Sounders next round.
  13. Now, now, be nice. What did Calgary ever do to you? I for one, would welcome this if it is true.
  14. My phone app shows that too. Every time I go in it's right at the top with my favourite leagues. Valour was supposed to host Forge today. I'd say no. League and cup double, right?
  15. I would agree with this. The only two players who looked lively for either team last night were Taider and ZBG.
  16. To be fair, TFC started at 9 am one day, 8 PM three days later, and 9 am again 3 days after that. Playing 3 games in seven days is hard enough, without the start times. I've worked jobs like that (8 AM start one day, 3 PM the next, etc). Within a week you're working through fatigue, even if you're awake. He might be a little tired. It did look like all of the starters were fading after halftime.
  17. At least the Canadians brought in during garbage time didn't allow a goal? I know it was Seattle today and they're missing a lot of players, but that was pretty hard to watch.
  18. I'm pretty certain Canada will be in the World Cup. There are three hosts, but with 48 teams, I don't believe FIFA will change the format to make all three host countries qualify for their own tournament. Of course, it is FIFA, but on this point I don't think they would. With regards to Nigeria, I do follow African soccer, and I believe that the top African teams are much closer in overall comparative talent to each other and to their "second tier" nations than the top European teams are to each other. Nigeria also has had a couple hiccups qualifying for the African Cup of Nations lately
  19. I think Nigeria would be a distant third choice for Akinola right now, so I don't really worry too much about it. Two words: World Cup. Canada and the U.S. are hosting 2026, so he's guaranteed to be in one when he's entering his prime. Even with expansion to 48 teams, Nigeria getting there isn't a certainty. If 2026 was somewhere else, I would have been more iffy on this. If he does choose the U.S., I would be disappointed but I wouldn't be angry. He was born there, grew up here but played for their youth setup, and now plays and lives in Canada for a team in an American league. Even allo
  20. Regardless, I read that Mediapro has rights to both the Pro League and Proximus League Basically, this. That's why I mentioned Borges. I wouldn't mind being able to see his progress.
  21. We'd still get to see Tristan Borges. πŸ˜‰
  22. Midway through the first half, my only thought of the game was "Wow, Vanney seems a bit pissed at Omar today".
  23. Vanney has been successful, yes, but he is known for using the same players to close out games even when up or down by 3 with ten minutes left. There were a couple of times last year he could have put in a younger player for the last 15 minutes instead of Mullins, DeLeon or Ciman. The times I saw Akinola play last year, he looked like he was just growing into his body and needed some time to play, but Vanney's leash is strangely short on younger players, and he went backto Mullins. This year Ayo got has chance and took it. He looks way more comfortable out there.
  24. I would love to see Akinola wear the Maple Leaf. He's been looking amazing this tournament. If he continues to progress, I could envision a forward line of Akinola and David with Cavallini as a hold up third. With a potential threesome like that, it would free Davies to maraud from LWB while Laryea or ZBG come in from the right. What an attack! One can dream...πŸ™‚
