And I don't think we should dismiss the idea of him playing on his off-wing either. He played there for parts of the first game against the US and he was a pain in their Yankee assess. It is tactically wise to use Davies in attack, if only because it forces the opposition to always keep an eye on him. It is as much a defensive tactic as an offensive. (Two birds; one Davies.)

Davies should not be burdened with defensive duties. It's that simple. His speed, strength and skill should be used to put pressure on the opponent as much as possible. The USA could not deal with him in Toronto.

As much as the whole team looked bad (and I try to block the game from my mind), the last game against the US is why I don't want him at LB for us. I feel like he tried doing too much at times and like you said, didn't have world class defenders to cover him when he pushed up. I remember him doing a ton of running trying to attack and having to sprint back when they countered, he'll get too gassed if he needs to do that every game.
If he plays LB for us but keeps it simple and focuses mostly on defending, we're kind of wasting the most dangerous attacking player in CONCACAF.

No, no, no, and NO. Davies can play as a LB for Bayern because he has 10 other world class players on his team to bail him out and close any gaps he might leave while moving forward. Canada DOES NOT have this luxury... its really not that hard to understand. Davies a LB for Canada is a complete waste, specially when him and David together in attack can make any CONCACAF defense uneasy.

Unbelievable performance from back to front from the whole team. To come out and beat a league one team with basically a u20 team. Brilliant
so incredibly proud of Liam asked to do a job to press and push and run. He put a proper shift in and did all that an more. That dummy near the end and if Curtis would hve put him in he would have scored for sure.

so so proud. . No one can ever take that away from him having played for Liverpool FC in the FA Cup team  a winning team.

From any sort of realistic perspective, this year couldn't have gone much better.  Sure, he could have theoretically started every game, banged in 30 goals and blah blah blah.  But at his age, at this club, the fact that he has done what he has done is completely astounding.

I know we all know this but I will say it anyways...
What I love about Davies is that he is very skillful, has good technique, and has world class athleticism. That is such a deadly combination and it is very rare for a player to have all 3.
Not only that, but he has such a fantastic attitude. He is humble and wants to learn and this is surely why every time he steps up a level he figures it out.
His soccer IQ is not "off the charts", like Jonathan David, but it's high enough that when you factor in his coachability/attitude, the result is that he makes the right decision more often than not.
Making the right decision is easier when the game is in front of you, which is why I believe he has thrived at LB for Bayern.
The next step is for him to make better decisions in the final 3rd. I think it will naturally come in a few years. As he continues to train and develop alongside these world class players, the game will start to slow down closer to goal.
Once he figures that out I think Bayern will begin to play him further up the field. I predict that slowly, but surely, he will evolve from a left back into an all-around dominant world class left-sided player. Sometimes we will see him at left back, sometimes we will be see him left wing, but always he will be on the field. As the article says, he cannot find his way back to the bench. He will ultimately become undropable, if he is not already.
Until then we should all enjoy his incredible rise as a left back at one of the best clubs in the world!

It is very pretty, the seats are comfortable, and the sightlines are good. It is in a great location. It has a lot of positives.
The sound is poor and you realise this when you are not in a supporter section but close--that atmosphere you get close up fades fast just a section or two away.

A solid DM who can also move the ball and an improvement at CB could be enough.

Back in April, I watched the Whitecaps' development squad play against an experienced, 6th-tier team in South London. They were outplayed (read, bullied) for much of the 90 minutes, but still won 1-nil. It was the night that I knew that Kam Habibullah was going to be a star and that Simon Colyn probably won't. I saw with my own eyes what a physical specimen, and on-pitch workhorse Theo Bair is. Amongst all that, Patrick Metcalfe was the standout player for the 'Caps, even though he was moved around, playing CB in the first half, then as a 6 in the second half. The boy can play. I hope he gets some serious chances.

Very happy Godoy is back. He will be central to the cause (forgive the pun) this year.  He might be a good guy to captain the team, but I suspect MDS will go for a cat like Andy Rose. Which makes little sense considering he shouldn't be a starter in most games. But I am happy to see the Caps putting the pieces together. While MDS has not made nearly as many changes to the roster as he did when he first joined, this team still has a lot of new guys. It is going to take time for them to find their chemistry.

So it isn't the Caps who hate Canada, just their star DP (who was born in the country)?
We need Cavallini for depth up front, for now, but if Larin and David continue to develop, then Lucas could easily find himself out of favour with Herdman, especially if he hasn't drunk the Kookaid yet.  (Hard to build team unity and a team mentality when your "star" striker refuses to buy in. Not saying he hasn't bought it--only conjecture--but you get the point.)
But bottom line: How stupid can the guy be?  He has just signed for a Canadian squad and plays a critical role for our National Team!!  He has clearly had very little, if any, PR training before coming to the Caps. You never say dipshitty stuff like this to ANY media. I don't care if his self-esteem is such that he cannot say to Spanish-language reporters:  "I am happy to be going home to Canada, thrilled to start a new adventure with a great club in Vancouver, but a big part of me will always be Latino. I loved my time playing in Uruguay and Mexico; these countries will always have a special place in my heart."
Davies, even when he was 17, was more media-savvy than Cavallini at 26!!  Turns out you can't teach speed or intelligence.

Sure, fair enough, especially if we pull out the clichés about Canadian culture. Hell, I was born here and I have lived here for nearly five (shudder) decades, and I do not identify with the stereotype you spelled out above.
And yet, the lad could have been a bit wiser about his PR, no?

Lol except that in the  Lucas lands in Vancouver videos from the signing announcement both days the club staff brought him Tim Hortons so he’s gotta be at least 5-10% Canadian right there if not more.
