Ha.  I love that he used the PM’s congratulations message to make a plea to come home.  Perfect.

Yeah, I thought Fraser looked solid tonight, and I was disappointed that he got yanked. Kid needs to play. If that means moving from TFC, then let's make it happen.  I know a team way out west--we call it the Lower Lotusland--that could use a strong young talent like him.

It depends on jurisdiction to jurisdiction. I was thinking of outside Canada as well.
I'm more worried about anti vaxxers refusing to take the vaccine than giving preference to athletes

man.. a bit over 2 year ago Davies was still playing in Vancouver and was likely watching Kylian Mbappe win the world cup with France during the summer... I can't for the life of me imagine it ever crossed his mind that 2 years later he would be squaring off against him for a UCL trophy... damn

Very exciting match up. I'd like to see Davies get forward a few times. That'll keep PSG honest, might even force Mbappe into a more defensive role (unlikely).  What a year for our lad! And to think he is only going to get smarter, more technically proficient and, believe it or not, faster.  (Sprinters do not hit their prime until their later 20s, usually.)

I think we may be past a generational ebb and flow and are just establishing what will be a new baseline standard.

I probably sound like a broken record (this question gets asked a lot) but if we play a team that Is just going to bunker against us, I say LB. If we play a team that we want to counter attack, then LW or striker (like the first Nations League game against USA)

Can you imagine what it must be like for a 19-year old kid who'd always dreamed of playing football against the best teams in the world to know he is playing Barca in less than a week?!  The fact that Davies is keeping his head through all of this--this entire year, all the media, big games, legendary footballers singing his praises etc.--is a testament to his character, his upbringing, and the good people around him these past many years. While his Edmonton clubs and the Caps deserve kudos, one has to give a special nod to the class and intelligence of the Bayern organization for how they've helped Davies this past year-and-a-half. Oh, and toss in a new language, a new culture and a global pandemic.  Looking forward to the match vs. Barca.

It was a very mature, rather than typically swashbuckling, performance from the Phonz. It was very appropriate for a full-back for a team carrying a 3-goal first leg lead into the match. It bodes well for his mindset going into a game where he'll be marking Messi, Suarez, and Griezmann at various times throughout.
The real question right now, though, is whether @Unnamed Trialist is with Canada, as embodied by Alphonso Davies, or with FC Barca?  🤔

Canadian soccer fans will always be able to prove Henry is not dependable by waiting for one mistake and ignoring the rest of the man's play.

I think I recall Kaye saying his attitude was a issue, and being released by TFC was a wake-up call he needed. He said it helped push him on to the next level, and he has no hard feelings.

Replacement? I think thats more Osorio's role.
Come October I would love to see us play with Kaye and Eustaquio in the middle. With a roaming David in front of them.

Bradley and Kaye don't really play the same kind of passes. Bradley's signature pass is that crossfield diagonal, which he can brilliantly hit on a dime. Kaye is more about those line splitting passes along the floor, or sometimes he plays these chipped passes to send players in.
When I think of Bradley it is distributor first and playmaker second. For Kaye it is the opposite.

I know he didn’t play at a super high level, but in the red and white DeVos always seemed to be our best defender.   Maybe I wasn’t viewing it with a critical eye but I loved the way he played.

As for the future, I don’t think the past can be a reliable guide.  We didn’t just claim Davies - we produced him.  Same with David.  These are products of Canadian development.  And we have not really produced that calibre of player in the past. With the huge numbers of kids playing soccer, the many opportunities for constant training for elite-streamed athletes, and a domestic league, I think we will see much more domestic production if quality players in all positions.
