And yet but we didn't need to win this game, we played well against a decent team, and we advanced the program. As long as we are taking steps forward. Next step: advance to semis.

Better to learn this lesson now.  Maybe now our starts are more conservative with our outside wingbacks playing defensively for the first ten minutes until the game is established.
Best to learn these lessons when the games don't really matter.

Kaye did a good job when he came in. Looked fired up.  Him playing at that level is a huge bonus and combined with Hutch, Arfield, Oso, Moustachio, we are looking good in the midfield.

I disagree.  He's an intelligent player.  His problem is he has never been able to develop his left foot for more than just standing on it. ☹️

In this game?!  No, this was smart all around and they played really well. Fraser really came into the game.

And yet this defense handled decent players in Dike and Zardes all game long. No problem.

US playing with fire. They've had nothing going forward for 50 minutes, at least. Let's get our goal!

We've been the better side all half. Let's get that goal. Positive steps being taken forward! This is what we need. A goal would be amazing.

Finished quite strong. We look a tad fitter. I like what I saw in the last 15 or so minutes. We've got a goal in us yet.

So excited for this game. We are going to learn a lot about our team today, and the young guys are going to grow big time as a result.  More than anything, I want a tough, scrappy performance from our lads! Next step forward.

Or maybe he means the "Championship". That seems more likely. I'd love to see him in Germany, frankly. I feel the Germans, on a whole, do a better job of developing young players.
Must admit I am blown away by how rapidly Tajon's has risen as a footballer. Sure, he's not as quick as Davies, and maybe not as crafty, but he might already be better than Phonzie defensively, and he might be a smarter baller, too.  He simply does not look scared out there, ghosts defenders at will, and works his ass off.  We've had a handful of remarkable revelations this past year or so, including The Stache, Tajon and Kennedy, even Johnston. One could almost get ridiculously optimistic for the future of our national team if one wasn't careful.

And yet but also, it is amazing to see how high the standards for this team have risen these past couple of years. The team, us fans, even some in the media, now expect us to handle teams like Haiti, Martinique and Cuba comfortably, despite there being a time not so long ago when a victory was never assured. (I mean, victories are not, in fact, ever assured. But you get my drift.)  Even after a very uneven, incohesive and lackluster performance, we still dispatched Haiti 4 - 1, and at no point was I overly worried of the result.  I was worried about the performance, especially in midfield, but I felt confident we'd pull out the win.
We've still got far to go, but we've taken at least a couple of excellent steps forward. Next step: Beating teams like Honduras, Jamaica and Costa Rica regularly.
