Of course, the US fans are slaughtering Bradley on all the forums right now, along with Berhalter.  But is Bradley really the problem?  Do they have a better option in that role? The fact that everything has to go through him seems, tactically, a big issue to me. And he ain't no spring chicken no more. Who are the most exciting young box-to-box midfielders in MLS these days? For my money Mark Anthony Kaye must rank among the best of the young prospects, no?  Oh, damn, I forgot: He's Canadian!!

Just re-read some of the comments on MLS from an article leading up to the game, and aside from the obvious Yankee douchebaggery, it was interesting to read how several US fans figured we have the better strikers, a backline that is equal to theirs, but a midfield that is way behind theirs in terms of talent.  And, yet, tactically speaking, we outplayed them in the middle of the pitch all game long.  Oso and Arfield were so damned smart and responsible all game.  Piette was the bulldog we all expect. (I'd hate to play against him).  The whole team gets credit for the cohesive performance, but our midfield was the difference-maker tonight. And we did it without Kaye and Hutch.

What an incredible night! This was exactly the performance I was hoping for AND the result was pure magic.  We out-desired them. (Or, if you'd prefer, we out-Crepeaued them.)
Gritty, hard fought, well-organized defensively, solid tactics and some good football along the way.  There was leadership out there in spades, even with Atiba not in the squad.  There is much to do on the path upwards, but this was a solid step forward. Very proud of these guys, Herdman included. I've been teary-eyed and smiling since the final whistle.

    LOL.  Bit dramatic.
Or... Canada won the midfield and the forward put the fear of God into the US last line with confident aggresive play?  Seriously, there was a very good eye tonight to quicky turn opportunities into attacks which I don't expect many were anticipating.  And that happend because of what was happeneing in the middle third.  Outstanding.

Piette was an absolute beast tonight.
That game won over a lot of TFC/casual fans.
    Who's up for firing Herdman?

I was crying in the stands, I can’t believe this. Not only did we win, we dominated. And we finally have some real fullbacks.

And as a cute bonus I won $300 by putting money on a 2-0 win.

**** yeah!  And let the Yanks feel they are the superior team, sure to trounce us--with style, nonetheless. I don't care if we play pretty; let's just get the win.  (Okay, I want us to play attractive, smart football, but mostly I want to see a cohesive performance from the lads.)
Excited to see Bradley battle Kaye and Arfield. Very curious to see how that plays out.

In the 2014 World Cup Costa Rica finished first in a group consisting of England, Italy, and Uruguay.
Now if you're talking purely about size and population, I guess I can't argue with you, but a lot of good European soccer countries are rinky dink compared to the US in that sense.

So Canada's guy is currently heading CONCACAF and we agreed to this new HEX format?  Yeah, I think we've got this game in the bag.  Pretty sure we'd never accept if we weren't going to find our way into the HEX.

I think we can get four points.  I respect this opponent but we shouldn't be kissing the ring.
At the end of it all, I want us to be a tough out, at the very least.  We could get CONCACAFed by reffing or we could have genuine bad luck and come second best in the group. Whatever. As a supporter, I want to see a mentally tough side that goes down swinging.

But, with all due respect, we shouldn't beat them. Their program is still way a head of ours, our team is very young, and am I not yet convinced Herdman has the chops to guide this team to David v. Goliath-type wins.  Yes, the US is not nearly as strong as they've been in the past decade, but the Americans are right in thinking they should beat us.  Those among them who say it will be easy, or should be easy, are deluded. I don't know why those fans set themselves up for such silly nonsense. (I mean, us Vees never do that. 😉)
I am hoping for a tight, scrappy game. Yes, I want to see some moments of offensive flair, but I want to see a cohesive game from our guys, starting with our defensive play. (I am not suggesting bunkering, mind you.) I want to see a smart, hard fought game on our part. Can we nick the win? Sure, why not? But I want to see us take a real step forward in our overall development tomorrow.
