    2021
    Players - 44 - Minutes - 39,478 - Goals - 40 - Assists - 46

We have already surpassed the total Canadian players and total minutes played by Canadians over the past 3 seasons.  I do not have the statistics on previous MLS seasons but I would believe those are already two new record highs for Canadians in MLS history.  Not bad considering all the injuries to some regulars this season.  Gutierrez probably missed about 15 games.  Osorio 10 games.  Cavallini 10 games.  Pasher 15 games.  Ayo will miss about 25 games.  Priso will miss about 15 games as well.
Many of those players listed above that had injuries would normally contribute to goals & assists.  Cavallini, Osorio, Pasher & Ayo in particular would have contributed to more goals and assists.

It is kinda funny that the Cayman game was probably the last match he'll ever play.

I think, looking back, we were missing a coach who had the ability and resources to have us "punch above our weight" rather than underachieving.

MM3/MM2/MM reacted to Free kick in Russell Teibert
We dont need a #8 anymore as long as we have players like Davies and now TB who gives us more width than any other team in Concacaf.  And to a lesser extent, JD, who plays more of false #9 instead of a true #9 like Larin.    The role of the box to box midfielder (Like Teibert) has been rendered redundant on the MNT for next ten years by the fact that we might have two of the best wingers in the Concacaf and that means no need for the runs (into space) that Tiebert can give you because of having AD and TB around.  And, you can more than adequately fill the defensive responsibilities that he would have provided by playing two defensive mids #6 (ie.: or one ball winner combined with a distributor). Add  to that, the  fact that Jonathan David is pretty unselfish and likes to drop back to MF a lot to collects ball& participate in the buildup, Then (just like with Arfield) how do you fit a #8 into the current scheme?  You are better off calling up more #6’s like Piette cause you could always use cover in that role and you might need them for late defensive substitutions.
with a setup like the last WcQ, whereby we were playing with Larin at fwd and no Davies and Buchanan,  then you could see Tiebert filling a need.   But not today.

You’re not missing anything - we’re in solid position. We just haven’t taken control of a spot and that’s causing some anxiety.
everyone should reassess after Wednesday. two weeks ago had you offered me 5 points this window I would have jumped at that.

A win Wednesday and we’re at 10 points through 6 matches and have a pretty clear path to qualification.

It is worth noting that the main reason everyone is worked up about this result is due to Panama winning their game. If, Panama had lost or tied then a draw in Jamaica doesn't look so bad. We have played 6 WCQ in Jamaica and this is the first time getting anything out of it.
Also for those worried about Jamaica climbing back into the picture, they play their next 2 games on the road and then their following 2 games are at home to US and Mexico, so they still have a very uphill battle.
With that being said Wednesday is very much a must win game.

Not sure which here can understand Spanish, but that video particularly, with the big guns and real experts (there are a lot of trash commentary circles on Youtube, almost unintelligible), is so amazing. Basically they are all saying that regardless of results, NO team ever comes into Azteca and pressures Mexico up high. No matter what, the rivals ALWAYS sit back and counter. So the boldness was very much noted.
I'll get to it when I have some time, but you have to listen to Tata postgame. I honestly think he is totally deluded, he analyses what happens with very little accuracy. And then goes on about them not having VAR, when VAR would have shown a red card kick-out, or that the mess with Crepeau was, however you look at it, a player interfering with the keeper.
So I don't think the guy is really able to know what is happening and that is a pretty bad mark against him. Since they are confident of qualifying, and will get their wins against weaker rivals (they'll probably score 4 vs. Honduras as a reaction) he'll probably not be fired, but the commentators, fans and press are all very critical of his work, especially the last year.
