Let's hope it's a championship club and not a League One or SPL.

One minute, two American citizens are duking it out but later in the match they probably bond through the chant of a homophobic slur at the opposition (at least that's my guess).

Cornelius came on at half time and played the entire 2nd half in a 3-1 (2-1 HT) win over fellow Super League team Lamia.
It was the 1st friendly match of the year.

Morgan got another game tonight against Pasher and Houston....second start of the season.  Considering I dont think he played at all in MLS last year, its nice to see him keep plugging away.

People have always underestimated Crépeau. After giving up a goal at Camp Poutine in 2020 people were crapping on him, even though the whole team was defending the set piece very poorly.
Right before the 2015 Olympic Qualifying people were rating him below Quillian Roberts.
He's always managed to prove the doubters wrong.

Yeah, I'm confused with the hate he's picking up. He was winning balls, running back HARD on defense. He was in our the Canadian corner a few times winning balls. He almost played like a wingback, despite the fact that we already had one on the pitch in reality. He drew at least two, if not more fouls.

The issue Corbeanu had was that the rest of Canada was pretty tired. While yeah, he put himself in a poor position a couple times looking for a pass, he didn't have a ton to create because players were struggling to get up and down the pitch as smoothly. That's definitely more of a problem against good teams like Mexico.
Aside from that, he played well. He had an incredible scoring chance that almost went in and he had a few other beauty passes. At one point he was wide open as well, but I believe Eustaquio took a poor shot instead (might have been someone else).

Corbeanu doesn't have world class speed. But he has very good speed. His trickery, creativity, and confidence is what lets him win the ball more often than not though. The fact of the matter is... we don't have a player more confident than Corbeanu except Davies.

If Hutch is healthy and playing the way he did last season at Besiktas, there is no way he does not start for us in  "key" games. His experience and ability on both sides of the ball is not replaceable. Are there any defenders in Concacaf that can stop Davies and Tajon 1v1 or a forward line combo of Davies/David/Tajon or Larin? I would be very tempted to  release Davies and Tajon from defensive duties and just let them go full out attack with David playing behind them like he did at Gent.

I've been following MNT since the early 80's and I don't think I ever saw the true disappointment and real brotherhood that this team had after this game. They actually expected to win this game and it showed after the final whistle. Previously it would of been "Oh well we tried our best and at least we didn't get embarrassed" and never really expected to win. This will bode well for us in the future.

I'll take a non confrontational stab on a few points that I think helps our WCQ from participating in this Gold Cup.
    1) The way we competed and were competitive in every match against all opposition, proved we were adequately prepared. Not that the players did not trust Herdman or his staff, but this tournament will only re-enforce that the players will trust the staff with preparation, tactics and in game adjustments for WCQ matches.
    2) Many of our 23 spent a significant chunk of time together as a team in training. I'm a big believer in more time together the more you develop chemistry and unity, even if it is just from training. This GC they experienced both training together and playing games together.
    3) When you take away our big guns, many of our 23 men for WCQ will have gained valuable international and big game experience. Yes I consider QF & a SF(in front of 50k+ opposition supporters) in a knockout tournament a "big game experience". This simply can't be taught, you have to live threw it and experience it. Many men learnt and experienced it. They can carry this experience forward the rest of their lives.
    4) The chemistry or as our players are calling it "brotherhood" has only grown from this tournament. Look at some of the top countries in the World: Spain, France, Holland. You can have all the talent in the world but if the chemistry or unity is not 100% there, you will have difficulties.  I guarantee our top players watching afar are only more fired up to crush it for our flag come September, simply after watching their teammates give it everything for the flag this GC.
    5) We've learnt Crepeau is very capable in a CMNT uniform. Club vs country competition vs how you show in training are all different beasts.  Crepeau has proven this tourny he is the clear #2, pushing for #1. Do we learn this without the GC? Or have the same level of confidence? I'm not sure, but the question has now been answered.
I'm sure I am missing more and I will agree with you, this GC is by no means a game changer for WCQ.
At the same time, both of us are essentially and somewhat debating alot of hypotheticals. The true answer will likely always remain opinion based anyways, so tbh there really is no right or wrong answer. It's more where your opinion lies.
For me, I felt the tournament a positive for the CMNT, which only carries forward and helps us in WCQ, which is only a month away and will happen very very quickly.

I saw the game today and I was really impressed by his performance more so than last week too. Outside of the goal he was rock solid defensively and was good in the air. His passing was excellent from what I saw he looked really comfortable on the ball and building from the back. Based on whoscored he made the most number of accurate passes, as well as the most passes of any player.

We have some unlikely support in the American sports talk mediasphere:  on his show, SiriusXM Sportsgrid's Gabe Morency was just giving it to the Mexican players and supporters for their lack of class and even offered to pay the fine for one of our guys if they clocked a Mexican player or two.  It was fun listening!

Not sure if having Hutch at the 10 for us is controversial, but when he plays there for Besiktas he looks really good, and with us not having a true 10, why not out the 🐙 there?
I also like this 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 as it allows us to have the majority of our strongest players on the pitch. Excited to see who emerges over the next year of WCQ

Been so many standouts its hard to not give everyone credit. Johnston has been a revelation imo. Hugely tested last night but has passed this gold cup with flying colours.
Concentration, application, consistency and stamina. He barely put a foot wrong all tournament.
The talk is rightly about the inevitable Tajon move to Europe but Johnston shouldn't be far behind. Should have plenty of suitors.

In the past, they wouldn’t have cared as we were not a threat to them - we are now.
