I've been closely following Lille since their near death relegation season when my son used to work there.  He's back in Toronto but I still follow the team.  For every Pepe who underwhelms, there are countless players who have made a seamless transition to a top 8 Champions League tea.
I thought Pepe was good but he dominated physically in a technical league.  A player like David has more soccer IQ in his left boot than Pepe has in his whole body.   Same for Osimhen but at least he's not as ball dominant as Pepe. The only thing he has over David is height and power but that said, he'll do better in Italy than the Premiership.
David has the type of skills that are not league dependent. He sees and uses space so well his play making abilities will shine if he has some class players around him.  It's too bad that Chakvetadze was injured this season because he's the type of gifted creative player that would have been a dynamic pairing with David.

One thing we can all agree on is that Eustaquio needs to be called up regularly going forward, and that he offers something neither Piette or Kaye do. The 3 of them are very different types of players, and that sort of versatility will only benefit the CMNT going forward

He made a really impressive first touch mid range pass in the second half. Other than maybe Fraser he's probably our best passer.

My response to this rather difficult proposal, is that we go to a Gold Cup and win it, and someone emerges as a veritable star and signs well above their current club. Or better: the same in Qatar, we make it, have a good first round, and someone rises to the occasion.
Which is why I think, why not, it could perfectly well be someone already in our midst waiting for the right moment.
And even not, even if we could get the sort of boost we've seen with Icelandic players after their WC, I'd be damn happy with the overall group of players without even having to have a superstar. The arguably greatest Icelandic player of all time was not a factor in their WC run.

I have no idea how Pepple fared in that camp.  Maybe he got just outplayed or maybe he got snubbed, who knows.  But I don't th think kids in CanPL should always be given precedence over their academy counterparts any more than MLS academy players should be given precedence over CanPL kids.  Just keep an open mind, hold more camps, and pick the best players.  We've seen young players succeed out of all kinds of backgrounds, and young players fail from all kinds of backgrounds, even big European academies.

Greatest sport on earth does not equal perfect sport.  Every sport evolves with time and needs to be tweaked here and there.  Classic CONCACAF time-wasting and fake injuries for example can sometimes turn the last 10 to 15 minutes of a game into a farce.  In those cases referees need to keep adding time, in fact err on adding more time than the injuries waste.
And to call something an imaginary issue when most of the passionate soccer fans I know want diving curtailed takes quite the impressive leap in logic.
You seem to imply that those of us who despise diving in the game feel that way because we are worried about casual fans.  In fact we are just soccer fans for whom it sometimes takes away significantly from our enjoyment of the sport.
The CanPL went overboard on allowing a rougher game, directing their referees in such a way to in many cases ignore clear foul calls.  I agree they went too far (though skill players like Borges were still able to flourish, and fans in my area of Tim Hortons Field loved the hard tackling except in those clear cases where fouls were just blatantly ignored).  Probably they will reel things back this year to find the right balance of physicality with protection of skill players.
The way to cut out diving is not to ignore fouls but to more consistently hand out yellow cards for diving, and to allow retroactive cards where the ref is unable to catch diving in the flow of the game.
There will always be players who go down easy to make a point to the ref they are being manhandled.  Within reason this can allow skill players more space to display those skills.   But players trying to bait referees to get solid defenders sent off should be punished severely.

I applaud any attempt by CPL to curtail, time wasting, embelishment, diving, clutching and grabbing etc, all the ****** little things that have wormed their way into the game and we all just turn a blind eye to.  I'm sure this wasnt done on the Commish's whim but is a concious choice to try and differentiate our league from others.  New league, no history so lets try and change some things we all dont like.  This doesnt mean the league has to be a hack and foul mess either.  You hand out a couple retroactive yellows every weekend to the worst most blatant offenders and maybe you'll eliminate a % of the baloney.  I really dont think it adds anything to the game, even if some skill players use it to keep defenders off them.  Maybe the refs should call the defenders having 2 fistfuls of jersey now and again to clean that up.  Does anyone complain about the refs spray anymore? its cleaned up the encroachment on free kicks and improved the game.

As far as I know not a single player from that video made it past u16 at TFC  or plays pro. Except Liam. (If anyone knows different please let me know)
there were some really quality players there a keeper named Alex. A defender named Jayden A striker who’s name I can’t remember. . Glen  M and Shaun Hundal came to TFC a few years later than this video
Ryan Raposo wasn’t selected as part of that group. (too small again, Liam and Ryan played together for one season in Burlington U12)

The voice on the tape is Rick Titus btw.  A great coach from NMSC and TFC. Played a few games for TFC too ...

sorry for my limited replies. the twitter post of my response on here has forced me to be selective in what I’ say. I thought this was  a closed group didn’t expect to be quoted.... I even msgd the guy on twitter Asking to take down the post and he blanked me and left it up.
Will try to add what I can but won’t talk any specifics at all as don’t want it repeated outside of here ....
