Pasher and Montgomery make the USL-C team of the week, Haworth makes the bench.  Nice start for our CDN's in USL-C.

Some decent pedigree if true.  I wondered where this guy ended up after his time in Eastern Europe.

I was optimistic about this league from the start, but my sense of optimism is growing.

Not only has the league handled itself very well in terms of commercial partnerships, but the influx of very interesting (albeit on paper at this point) young foreign talent across the board promises to raise the quality on-field as well (which was decent to begin with). Also, let’s not undersell the importance of Atlético Madrid joining the project as a club owner. They are an immensely powerful and capable entity that will bring money and knowledge to the league. They’ll also undoubtedly lend the league an aura of credibility that it may have taken longer to obtain by itself.

I am now reasonably convinced that this league will succeed.

We've all played with that guy who just wasn't the most skilled player but had a knack for scoring goals.   Probably either fast or big and just good at finishing breakaways or finding the back of the net on goal-line scrambles.  And that guy played ahead of 'prettier' players because guess what, at the end of the day putting the ball in the back of the net is more important than the ability to play pretty soccer.

Said it a few times, but I think Zajac picks up where Borges left off -wins a bunch of hardware (i.e. er, I mean, indigenous art) and then transfers to Europe.

Not sure if ZBG will be with the senior team. He is U23 eligible and was on the list of 50. I put him in the same category as Cornelius, Miller and Millar. If the plan was for them to be with the senior team I don't think they'd be listed, but they are so I will assume none will be available for the senior team:
    --------------------Borjan-----------------
    Laryea---Henry--Hutchinson--Davies
    ---------Kaye----Piette---Osorio-------
    ------David-----Cavallini----Hoilett--------
That is what I would like to see to start the game. If things are not going well perhaps take out Hoilett and push Davies to wide forward. I reluctantly start him in the back because I hope he's learned enough at Bayern to do the job well for Canada. In other words, I want to see if he can bring balance to the position and not be a liability like we saw against Haiti and the USA. If things go bad we can switch it up and not to overlook T&T but we are better than them at the moment so this may be the game to experiment with this once more. The games are only going to become more important, so if we are going to try him once more let this be the time. I think Herdman will go with Davies at left back anyways, so I am kind of factoring that in as well.
Edit: also leaving Arfield off because he left the last match injured and I don't know how serious it is. Piette is ahead of Eustaquio for now despite him not starting the season well in my opinion. I think Stephen has a much higher ceiling but for now I will go with the familiar face and since T&T are more physical it may call for Piette, at least to start the game and set the tone.

We have pretty decent depth at every position know compared to say 5-6 years ago.
Waterman is a great surprise coming from U Sports to CPL to MLS.  The nature of our development system is always going to bring some guys every year into the limelight kinda out of know where.
Waterman’s route is going to become more and more common every year.
Our program will become a perennial Concacaf powerhouse when every kid coming and getting a couple dozen starts into MLS isn’t immediately a contender for a CanMNT cap.  We need at least 1/2 our starters playing for Europa League teams or better with the balance of our 23 man roster consisting of MLS level or better starters/ all stars.
We’re getting there but not there yet.

Early days for sure, but so far this game and in the games vs Saprissa, he has been a key figure in attack.  If this is a preview for his role with the Impact this season, Brault-Guillard will have a big year ahead of him.  That kind of pivotal role could be huge for his continued development.

ZBG really is super talented.  If he can lock down a starting spot this year it will really help him in this key year.  The 20-23 years are so critical for development and he’s right in it.

I hope he can round into form like this all the time.
