I would have expected Blainville vs Ottawa as well, but I'm guessing it may be an "entered competition for the first time this year" thing, whereas Blainville have been there since the PLSQ received a spot.

Isn't Easter Monday a holiday across Canada? It was when I was growing up.
It's a holiday here and in Valencia, Aragon, Baleares. But I'm not sure that'd be why Mediapro would schedule that way.

It confirms 14 home & away, not 14 spring & fall. We'll have to wait for tomorrow for anything official on that, but rumours are (and the wording in that article seems to indicate) that we're moving to single table.

I like the split season format, but with only 1 CONCACAF League spot at play, I'd rather have the single table.
If our Spring & Fall winners both qualified, much like the Central American teams, I'd be quite happy with the split table... I'd be even happier if we got 3 spots, again, like the Central American teams (Spring Winner, Fall Winner, non-champions with best aggregate Spring/Fall record).

Um, what early MLS years are you talking about exactly? Attendance in MLS went down in years 2, 3, 4, and 5. It wasn’t until year 16 that MLS attendance surpassed its year 1 level.
If attendance in CPL increases this season, that will be an accomplishment that MLS did not achieve.
For fun I looked up other notable leagues. Original NASL also declined in year 2. USL (its 2011 incarnation) and the more recent NASL both increased attendance numbers in year 2. I couldn’t find numbers for the original CSL.
Source: All numbers from Wikipedia, no screenshots of crowds were examined.

My preference would be no conferences, but it’s not a big deal to me if they do split into conferences.
However, if they do I would like to suggest it would be awesome/hilarious if instead of an East/West split they do a North/South split. With the existing teams it would become.
    North: Edmonton, Cavalry, Valour, Pacific
South: Forge, Atletico, Wanderers, York 9
Works out to the same split, but it’s some geography fun.
(yes, I did look up coordinates to confirm Langford isn’t south of any of the teams in the east).

I've obviously struck a nerve here.  Not surprising, I feel like this is one of the major schisms of the modern game.  But let's at least drop the condescension, as if those of us to whom diving is like fingernails on a blackboard are rubes who lack a basic understanding of the sport.
Look UT, you have good points here as usual.  Simply put:  some level of embellishment is necessary to protect skilled players and enable positive and attractive soccer.  If someone is fouling you, go down and get the call.  This has been accepted (somewhat reluctantly by  Canadian fans like myself) in soccer for a long time, and often rewarded by referees.  Fine, results in more attractive soccer, we'll try and stomach it.
As with most things though it leads to an overreaction.  Players push the envelope, trying to get opponents carded for zero or minimal contact.  Smart, positional defenders, integral figures on good soccer teams, become victims of phantom calls.  Neymar rolls all the way to the airport.
So, in the name of protecting attractive soccer we corrected one way by overlooking some embellishment.  Now, in order to curb excessive (and especially malicious) embellishment we need to correct the other way: watch replays and suspend the worst offenders, the ones flopping to get perfectly good defensive plays seen as cardable offenses.  Escalante is not one of the worst of these in the game but he walks that line and frequently crosses it.  When he goes down easy after a foul, fine.  When he dives with little-to-no contact, punish him.
Do I think Clanachan went too far with this ice hockey brand of soccer he pushed in year 1?  Yes.  Did I enjoy some of the physicality and hard tackling?  Equally yes.
With a few corrections, ie call things tighter, protect your skilled players, and meanwhile punish blatant divers, a great balance can be struck.
I've watched a lot of Bayern Munich this year.  You know what gets Bayern fans just as worked up as an electrifying Phonzie run?  Him getting stuck in and physical and tackling tough. Likewise  I've watched Ireland-Scotland games that were just as entertaining for their intensity and forcefulness as any match between the Spains and Brazils and Germanies of the world.
Do I want the goons of soccer allowed to ruin the exquisite exploits of world-class talents?  Obviously no.  But do I want the inveterate divers of soccer to ruin the exquisite exploits of world-class, rugged, physical defenders? Equally no.

Fury closed up operations in Ottawa & sold the franchise rights to The Miami FC.

Edit: And it seems I was beaten to the reply. To expand a little further, only the USL franchise rights were sold, nothing else. The trademark rights for "Ottawa Fury FC" remain with OSEG, as far as we know. For all useful purposes, Fury are gone. Atletico Ottawa is a completely new venture, hosting their matches at the same place and with 1 of the OSEG partners involved in local management.

I get that they wanted to emphasize white to represent snow in Ottawa, but it just makes the crest seem a bit empty.
I'm also a fan of the revised crest (and concept kit) that Xavier Oulette did. The subdued strips are a nice touch.

I'm a graphic designer.... I literally make logos.
You're overthinking this WAY too much or you just like to hear yourself talk, I can't tell anymore. You've forgotten this is a sports logo. It's there to market. It's supposed to advertise a team. Many people aren't going to know half the shit you just said. If the logo is reminding them of something else, the logo isn't done properly. This is exactly what they tell us to prevent when making a logo.
When you have the colour schemes (famous red, white, and blue) mixed in with the same pattern (red and white stripes with a blue bar) It resembles too close to the American flag. Just look at this sub. It's living proof. Which means there's a lot of fault in the logo.
People will like it, it's all opinions in the end. But it could've been sooo much more. To be honest, the empty white space bugs me more. I can't believe they did that lol.
Anyway i'm going to end the conversation here. Gotten stale.

It doesn't even have to be the whole league either. Once a few clubs get to those kinds of numbers, when Forge and Valour start filling out their respective stadiums for example, the battle will be won.
