Now that, is an interesting possibility. Given that there's a split season, and that Ottawa can't play in the 2020 Canadian Championship, a Fall-season start could be possible.
-
Because silly season isn't silly enough: Personally, I think it's pretty late to put a team in place for 2020, but anything could happen I guess.
-
That would be very interesting to see. I also think if OneSoccer obtains the rights, it would work very well if they finally negotiated the launch of their cable channel (which, according to Larson, is still the plan). The two could dovetail nicely, with their OTT service benefiting from traditional access. I just hope they don't end up being only on Bell, Rogers, or Shaw...

According to Larson, an offer has been made, but no word officially yet. Bustos would be a great addition to the squad, and I'm optimistic we'll see Pacific competing at the top of the table if this ends up being true.

Top 25 Canadian players in CanPL for August
Rintaran replied to Duane Rollins's topic in Article & Video Comments
Done and done. Feel free to report this kind of stuff when you see it. That way I'll know to give it a look! -
No issues from the CanPL site. Now, from Pacific's merch shop, I've received the wrong product in the wrong size and had the replacement product never arrive, and have them completely run out before being able to send a replacement for the replacement, which finally forced me to accept a refund instead. Still better than my experience from the Ottawa Fury shop a couple years back...

The same article claims there are 10 teams in the CPL in 2020, so you can probably throw the whole article in the rubbish...

Great to see! He's definitely a strong player for the team and I want to see more of him on the field.

2020 Voyageurs Cup Format
Rintaran replied to IAmPappy's topic in Voyageurs Cup & CONCACAF Champions League
I have to say, I'm surprisingly pleased with this format. It's not perfect and won't satisfy everyone, but all-in-all, I think they did a good job. I also agree with how they chose to see the Cavs, based upon play in the V-Cup. It's a reasonable determination. They could have gone with who was the league champ, but it's much the same either way. Unless Valour improve in a shocking & dramatic fashion, or Forge find themselves plagued with injury, the quarters would be Cavs vs Forge either way. Already has me wondering about 2021/2022... If you add 3 new CPL sides (2021), -
BC Soccer aiming to launch "Regional Tier 3 League"
Rintaran replied to shermanator's topic in Canadian Teams & Leagues
2020 USL2: TSS FC Rovers (likely to depart for L1BC when ready) Calgary Foothills (no local league) WSA Winnipeg (no local league) Thunder Bay Chill (no local league) If TSS moves to L1BC, Calgary would be competing solely against West Coast teams in the US. One has to ask if there may not be a (temporary at least) opportunity for them to go L1BC as well. Would the finances be better or worse than crossing the border for all of your competition? -
BC Soccer aiming to launch "Regional Tier 3 League"
Rintaran replied to shermanator's topic in Canadian Teams & Leagues
Instead of starting a new thread, I figure it's best just to gravedig this one. With Highlanders FC opting out of USL2 for 2020 comes the confirmation that they will be applying for sanctioning with L1BC. From the owner, Mark Defrias: So, it looks like they're hoping to do a series of friendlies over 2020, much like the SK Selects or Whitecaps U23s. Edit: Official release from Highlanders: http://www.highlandersfc.ca/news/highlanders-league-update-2020-2021-and-beyond -
I agree with this assessment. Cavalry are looking for some decent U21 players to meet their 1000-minute requirement, without causing issues for the team. With Foothills having been raided last year, it'll take a year or two for their more direct supply-line to restock (although they performed pretty well again with past season).

Latest rumours are placing L1BC at a 2021 launch. Also noting an unsubstantiated rumour that Victoria Highlanders have dropped their USL2 team this year, with the intention of launching in L1BC in 2021... Not sure how much there is to that rumour though, especially as it's via reddit: No word on TSS FC Rovers, who are not part of PCSL. If source is correct, TSS & Foothills will remain with USL2 for the year:

Hey @Lofty, could you stop posting these trophy images? You've made your point and are starting to move toward the realm of trolling (which I'm hoping isn't your intention). The images don't really add anything to the conversation and just prevent one from continuing further, like the proposed open letter to the league/governor general. Thanks!

See the post by the guys behind elsewhere in this forum: It's just a supporters group at the moment. Much like the dozens of other groups across the country. No owner, no stadium, etc. They're aiming for L1O first and, like so many others, dream of CPL one day setting up shop in their city. Not an expansion rumour. Just a bunch of fans saying "Please?"

Barrie's Grassroots Soccer Movement
Rintaran replied to Kempenfelt Crew's topic in Canadian Teams & Leagues
Pretty sure he's just a member of the supporters group. So, probably -$100k not including the mortgage, like most "middle-class" Ontarians. Seriously though, this is a great push. I especially like that they're not stating a particular league, just pushing for a team (any team). Barrie should definitely have (at least) an L1O team, and it's truly a shame that there's been more expansion for L1O in the GTHA this year, at the expense of expanding into communities currently lacking pro/semi-pro/pro-am soccer. -
CCL & CL 2021 structure
Rintaran replied to SpursFlu's topic in Voyageurs Cup & CONCACAF Champions League
Here's my short: Top-8 from the previous year's CCL = Pot #1 of CCL, No seeding Top-8 from recent CONCACAF League = Pot #2 of CCL, No seeding If you don't make the top-8, down to CONCACAF League. There should be no guaranteed spots for MEX, CAN, USA, CCC sides. You want Champions League, you earn it. For the CONCACAF league: 24 teams total. Preliminary round - 16 Teams with least number of CONCACAF League "points" over the previous 5-seasons. That's right. If a Champions League regular performs poorly and drop out of the top CCL pot, shove'm right into the -
According to OneSoccer's facebook: That's a neat little addition to their line up.

Someone should put up a 5-day countdown timer. lol
