I am personally more open to Davies at LB than I was back in November. He has grown a lot since then so I am more optimistic about it.
He is better attacking with space in front of him, I don't think anyone disagrees with that.
Like you said earlier, it depends on whether Davies can play in the same way he does for Bayern. He is getting better at knowing when to take players on, when to combine with players, when to play the simple pass, etc. He is more likely to show this for Canada now than any time in the past.
I somewhat agree that we have the midfielders who are capable of covering for him. Actually I don't think it is a matter of can they, but will they? Does the team have enough reps together to know when to drop back and cover for Davies? I still have a question mark here, but I am willing to see Davies at LB again, or at least I won't complain about it like I have done in the past.

We got beat by a better team, and Davies just so happened to have a howler, playing quite possibly the worst game of his career. I agree that our CBs are often a weakness of ours, but imo that's not a reason to move our 'get out of jail free card' as Flick put it, out of defense. Quite the opposite in fact, as we have stronger alternatives in attack than we do in defense. Anyways, I'll bow out for now. I've been suggesting for like 4 years that Davies often looks more dangerous attacking with space in front of him but nobody on this board seems to agree.

Piette, Kaye, Hutch, Eustaquio, Teibert, Arfield etc are all more than capable of covering for him. It's a pretty basic element of the game, and we have plenty of capable defensive midfielders. I really don't think you're giving our squad, or Davies enough credit. TBH I disagree with just about everything you've said here, and the fact that you use 'neutering' as a term to describe defending tells me pretty much everything I need to know about your outlook on the sport. Kimmich, Thiago and Goretzka all manage to contribute a great deal to the attack despite occasionally having to cover when the fullbacks get forwards. It's just part of the system. Piette has a grand total of 0 goals in 200 + games anyways. He already acts like a shield

Exactly but then again Davies if he decides to shift over to LB on the international stage too and decides to make LB his permanent position for Canada too, then Canada would be set at the LB position. No need to even look elsewhere. Then you can just add whatever player to play that LW position...either way I would love that.

In case anyone is wondering - In the 2019 MLS season:
    Tesho had 10 goals
    Osorio had 5 goals
No other Canadian in MLS had more than 4 goals all season.
Ayo has 4 goals in 2 games so far this season.  I'm not sure why people still wouldn't even consider him at this point.

This. The Americans aren't coming in droves. They never have to Canada matches.
Plus today, they're disillusioned with their national team and their federation. Attendance is in decline. Ratings are off. There is very little talk about coming to Canada on their sites - all the interest is about if there is any chance they can get to Cuba. Most are behind the curve and think Canada is just Davies and some journeyman MLS guys.
US will need a good performance in terms of results and style during the Gold Cup to gin up any interest.

While what you say is mostly true, Euro 2016 used head to head:

And personally I think this makes the most sense when the number of teams in the group is small, as you often have a "minnow", where an extra goal or two is really not indicative of anything, and the potential for bribery is high.

So we want to put Alphonso Davies, Jr Hoilett and Jonathan David in sub zero weather just to prove what good old fashion Canadians we are? Can we just put this ridiculous sentiment and approach to rest, once and for all.

The weather makes almost zero difference unless we are playing in the NWT and then it would affect our team as much as the opposition. During CCL the last 2 years TFC have won, lost and tied teams from Mexico and Panama during some absolutely horrible shit  weather.  Its not like the opposition rolled over and let us run up a 6-0 score line on them.  Every game was close.
Play the games where we can minimize the support for the opposition OR make enough money to start having some frickin friendlies.  If that is Toronto - great.  If that is BC - great.  If that is Commonwealth - great.  We are moving in the right direction and playing games period should be the goal of the program.  It's hard to qualify for the WC when your team has no cohesion because they have only ever played as a squad a couple of times.

US Soccer would probably prefer Toronto. Think of the money they would save on hotel rooms when half the team says they would rather just sleep at their apartment

Watching the Honduras El Salvador game.  Couldn't figure which team was which until i seen GREEN LASER POINTERS on the faces of players in blue jerseys. I'm guessing that's El Salvador.

I love you guys (and gals)!  There is no real reason to be optimistic, but us beautiful bastards STILL hold hope that our lads can pull something off. Yeah, maybe we are insane-as-shit, but I love all of you just the same.

I dont know it. Mexicos coach is always on the hot seat. They dont take well to losing at home. Let alone to honduras who they hate. Theyd relish an oppurtunity to knock them out.

It's going to be very hard to beat out Honduras in tiebreakers- we just don't score enough goals. Even if we can match them on goal differential (which will be hard enough) the next tiebreaker is away goals and there's no way we beat them there.
we need a point tonight or in Honduras OR we need SLV to get a result in Honduras tonight. That would let us control our own destiny and make tiebreakers irrelevant

First time posting since the game on Friday.  Haven't been able to watch the highlights or read any articles for the game today - too disheartened.  I can only wonder how the players are really feeling after that predictable yet unfortunate display.
I had a bad feeling after I saw that starting lineup.  Like his midfield at the Gold Cup, I was baffled by 3 of Floro's 11 (not that it would have made much of a difference).  Those early chances we squandered... so close yet so very far away.
Oh well, thats all in the past.  Its time game day.  No matter what the situation or odds, as a Canada game nears, an inexplicable belief in this team manifests itself within me.
The pressure is totally off us.  Lets see what we can do.
Same starters as last game I suppose.  Same tactics.  Perhaps we can actually pop one in and twist the plot.
