David does have high level athleticism.
He’s always played an attacking role, either up front, behind the forwards or coming through the mid. At an early age he never seemed to rely just on his athleticism to get by. His soccer sense continued to develop and was always known for his late runs or moving into the right spot. When you see a kid at 12 or 13 doing that you know he’s special.

David's soccer IQ and his understanding of space if off the charts for someone who's just turned 19.  It's like he had an uncle or dad who was a high end soccer coach who drilled him on the nuances of the game through countless hours of video.
Unlike Davies, David's athleticism doesn't jump off the page but he just seems to know where he needs to be for that final touch.  When he was reeling off those goals at the start of the season, I thought he was an out and out poacher, albeit a very good one, but his awareness of space inside the box is really beyond his years.

Or maybe you are supposed to be taking the U21 angle seriously enough that there should be a fourth player on the roster who can also still meet the requirement at that point, and it isn't supposed to be treated as a quota? The key is probably signing players like Borges and Zajac that you expect to start regularly and surpass 1000 minutes by around half way through the season, so I suspect the Forge have the inside track on this so far.
They may also have had to find a way to actively incentivize U-21 players signing for them given the issues surrounding NCAA eligibility and competition from MLS academies. This looks like a late add on to the roster rules to address an unforeseen issue they have encountered when trying to get players to actually sign on the dotted line once they got up and running and moved into the realm of reality rather than aspiration.

Jadon grew up primarily in the Gloucester system and played some games with the Gloucester Celtic Men's Prem Team (former national champs). Last year I believe he started to train part time with Ottawa Fury and as mentioned previously, got to play in a game. He actually just came back from France where he was trialling/training with Sochaux, I believed (could be mistaken here), so he's already on the European radar. Having kicked the ball around with him a few times I can say he's highly skilled with good distribution skills and plays way more mature than his age. Should be a good signing, especially since he's local!

Article says he grew up in Ottawa playing for Cap U and Gloucester. Doesn’t say the Fury developed him.
Some folks here really try too hard to rip on a club willing to give a Canadian kid a chance at a pro career.

The comparison is based entirely on considering them "homegrown", not their talent level.  Davies was considered "homegrown" and a "product of the residency" when he stepped on the field after less than a year in Vancouver, let alone with the team.  All of the development he did with the team was after this.
Just pointing out that charging that Ottawa Fury is doing something subversive while not recognizing that this is done everywhere, is a little disingenuous.  Same would go for TFC when they promoted Osorio.  I think he spent more time with Nacional than with TFC.  He had the same trajectory as Davies where he spent the fall with TFC Academy and was then an MLS starter.
Jadon has probably trained with the Fury as much as Davies and Osorio did with their teams prior to being first team players.

I'm just happy they are giving a young "local" player a contact.  The more pro teams we have the more spots for CDN players.
I put quotations around local so we dont get fighting about how which neighborhood he grew up in.

Yeah if some club doesn't sell to Bayern, I guess the price is not high enough.
Anyhow I take the source of this "news" with a grain of salt. On the other hand, any 18 year old breaking through in the striker position is bound to draw some attention.

I love it, and honestly im not surprised since David is truly a quality player. Its no wonder Gent gave him a new contract since they clearly had the foresight that he would draw interest from bigger clubs sooner or later. Honestly if it werent for Phonzy breaking through then David would get a lot more hype.. and as an icing in the cake I love the fact he was born in the USA and we snatched him hehe... plus he never played in MLS so they cant claim any credit for his development.. yes I'm petty like that ?

Tbh I didn’t read any sexual connotations into his comments. Just figured he is still upset that the Fury fought back against the governing body that tried to pull a fast one on them. And won.

Liam has been in and out all this week with the first team. They have a few injuries and have loads of games in the next few weeks. He is happy for any chance he gets and says the first team players are really welcoming to the young players.. he said especially Wijnaldum and Salah!!!
As for Wolves I wouldn' t think he will get near it but it would be amazing if he did...Its really a numbers game. The first team at Liverpool has a squad of about 35, very deep especially up front. So Liam's opportunities will come probably from injuries or more loans. Ovie Ojaria has just returned from Rangers and Ben Woodburn may follow suit as his loan at Sheffield United hasn't worked out... he trains with the u23s unless he gets a call to come train at Melwood normally first thing in the morning…
Like I tell him keep working hard and soak it all in and do you best every chance you get...keep at it...and keep dreaming...your chance may come

As much as I think that Ottawa should be in the CPL from the start and their decision to play in the USL makes no sense and I’m still thinking there has to be more to this story , I’m not going to make comments about things like their academy without knowing the whole story, moreover, as someone who has been involved in youth soccer in Canada for many years I say that people on here not involved in youth soccer really have no idea about the the intricacies and what really goes on in the whole youth soccer set up. You really have to live it day in day out to really get a real understanding of how it all works. Therefore , to just say that Ottawa shut down their academy as a slight against this organization expecially from some people who are not involved in the youth game or have ever been involved in the youth game makes no sense. Moreover, as you have showed it looks like Ottawa for now has taken a different approach for the time being in terms of developing up and coming youth players, but I agree in the future they would need to get back to something close to running their own academy again and hopefully something like TFC’s academy which is not a pay to play scenario.

We just need to stop talking Fury and talking about CPL and Ottawa without OSEG.
I'm not hating, I'm respecting OSEG saying no. So Fury fans should respect that we start talking Ottawa in CPL without the Fury & OSEG

How about we let the CPL put a couple of seasons under their belt and see how it does before we start saying that the CPL can do without a major city in Canada like Ottawa . I’m pretty sure the CPL at this moment in time before a ball has been kicked gives a lot of ***** about Ottawa and this Ottawa with ready made owners. However, I will say that if the CPL gets off to a flying start and has a very promising season I could see the CPL becoming very confident where they might not need to concern themselves that much with the Ottawa market for awhile and just concentrate on all its other markets, but now before any games have been played for sure they would have loved to have the Ottawa Fury in the league. One question I have is how is the MLS paying Ottawa’s player salaries? I know they had a few Impact players farmed out to them, however the vast majority of their players are their own players that they the Ottawa Fury pay their salaries, you make it sound like they are a full fledged MLS farm team, a few salaries payed by the impact is not going to make that much of a difference and would not be a reason to stay in the USL. Moreover, let’s be careful with that “two bit organization” characterization of an organization , you never know we might be using it again one day but I hope not for soccer’s sake  in Canada . Hopefully this phrase will be a thing of the past when it comes to anything to do with soccer here in Canada but so far so good and things seem to be looking promising on many levels.

CPL doesn’t want the largest market in Canada with a pro team not in MLS.  That’s your contention?  Incredible spin.  Republicans would be impressed
If you don’t want them or need them, then just go about your business and don’t worry about the Fury. But you can’t.

Not worth arguing the point of whether CanPL and VM want the Fury in. They obviously do. USL isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but there is greatly enhanced stability and economies of scale that come with having over 30 franchises that are difficult to achieve in a Canada only context with fully pro level soccer due to the smaller population involved.
Having the Fury around is going to be a constant reminder that there was another option available that could have been followed instead. CanPL will need to perform strongly for the question of whether USL might not have been the better way to go to be off the radar screen. Another four months and we will be into the realm of reality rather than aspiration, and it will finally be possible to make direct comparisons on that.
