  1. It certainly did raise his profile: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/04/16/goalkeeper-chituru-odunze-star-making-vancouver-whitecaps-fc My feeling is that if he remains at the Caps he'll eventually play for Canada. The general atmosphere and pressure from teammates will help push that decision. But if he transfers to England he'll stay with the US.
  2. Well he didn't give up on the play, and ended up in the right place at the right time. That's something.
  3. True, but Zavaleta's case is interesting - it's not just a technicality - his father apparently represented El Salvador. Agree on your commets re Cabrera.
  4. He's had a thread for 10 years, mate. Please delete this thread. @admin The "search" function on the new site doesn't seem to work. There's been a few "new" threads started recently where there's a longstanding thread. I have had to manually search to find the old ones - not hard since I can view in alphabetical order, but takes a bit of time.
  5. @Zem This guy has had a thread for 10 years, can you delete the one you just started. @admin The "search" function on the new site doesn't seem to work. 6. Got it - for posterity sake! Front page of BBC Football. Had to reduce size and quality, several times.
  7. Canadian press may not be showing much love, but CPL on the front page of BBC Football - tried to upload a screenshot but too big for the system, even in reduced form https://www.bbc.com/sport/football
  8. With a few season ending injuries already (de Jong and Serban, at least), I'll once again ask if the league has any rules on injury replacements, and how it will effect the salary cap? With strict roster rules and a cap it would be madness to simply not allow teams to replace long-term injured players - but I haven't seen anything about injuries and replacement players.
  9. Wait, are you talking about fan leaders or Canadian soccer journalists?
  10. 1. Forge FC 2. York 9 3. Pacific FC 4. Cavalry FC 5. HFX Wanderers FC 6. Valour FC 7. FC Edmonton
  11. Sorry, see I was late to the game.
  12. Seems like you have a lot of excuses... If they did know about him, did the guy insist on a contract rather than trial? Given his quick decline from Serbian football, was there an injury or attitude problem that the coaches know about? Something's amiss. If he was interested, and "did not contact the league" how can you blame everyone but the player? There were open trials, mate. Why didn't he apply to join one? With his pedigree he would have been taken in and in front of all the coaches. All it would have taken was an email with a CV and video. Nothing more. It's football and the kid has two unfavoured passports - if he's sitting at home waiting for people to contact him and hasn't hired an agent, he's going to be out of football quickly. In fact, sounds like he already is unless he changes tact! I expect him to end up in USports, but since you know the kid you may want to tell the kid to try something different - he needs to actually apply for university, they won't come to him with all the documents.
  13. I enjoyed keeping up with the lists as well - miss them @stevensandor
  14. Agree, but $$ talks and Southampton would offer a big pay raise. He could be the "player to be named later" in the Steven Davis loan to Rangers .
  15. You're see it wrong: Marshall, not Marhsall
  16. Go down under my friend. Australia. Bond University is on the beach and essentially runs a Canadian law school - even teaching Canadian Constitutional Law. I believe there's one or two others that do the same, to some extent. It makes for less equivalency exams and an easier path to qualify in Canada. The caveat is that I've heard some of their students find it difficult to get an articling job in a tightening legal market.
  17. It's fiction. Law schools don't tell people why they are rejected. But I get your point about going to a less than well known university, and agree. The reality is that with so few law school places in Canada, and provincial preferences, it's hard to get admitted. I had decent grades, Div I athlete and other pluses but didn't get in - LSAT score was not that great, and had to go to a US law school (and Australian, but that was by choice). Accumulated debt, but now I teach law so it worked out in the end
  18. Can a mod correct the spelling of his name, please. This is a good little story - seems he was a fullback, and a fan of Bernier and Camara. https://sites.google.com/site/londonirishteams/zzz/charles-andreas-brym
  19. Yes, definitely remember that. Late in the game when they needed a goal.
  20. He's pretty focused, which I like. We're not second choice! “I have thought about playing for Canada’s senior team as I have played for Canada at various youth ages, he said. But if not, he was asked, would he consider a TT call-up? “I would consider playing for TT if I was not with Canada’s programme. That (a place on TT’s senior team) is not something I am willing to commit to at this point in time.”
  21. You mean the American fans won't be clanging drums outside our hotel, blocking streets on the way to the stadium and throwing bags of piss once we're there? Not that other countries would do that, of course...
  22. Hadn't heard of him, found this: http://www.thesuburban.com/sports/heading-south/article_513e8969-a3db-5b43-8c10-cc686f7cd823.html
  23. Ok it's close...but mate, we're hungry whereas they feel entitled. I also really do think their vets and some of the (overly) cocky young guys may not buy into what GB's trying to do. For whatever reason, JH seemingly has built up team spirit and has our boys believing. I could be wrong, but now may be the right time to face them and nick a point or even three. Hope springs eternal.
  24. After reading this, I see a beatable team. A little young, a little cocky and I reckon not all will buy into the new system. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/03/20/us-soccer-tries-new-path-under-coach-gregg-berhalter-this-is-starting-point/?utm_term=.f8ea2052078d
