That's an impressive stat for Osorio as he's not the type of player constantly caught out of position or noticeably trying to cover a lot of distance. He's quietly having another good season while other players grab the headlines - essentially the bass player in a good band.

Overall the officiating still has a ways to go as there were some really odd (non) calls this tournament.
As far as the Pacific PKs go I think they're more about bad defending than bad refs. Of the 5 I recall, 3 were bad decisions for going into tackles (Haynes, Samake, Chung), 1 was a sloppy first touch (Wirth) and it's only the MacNaughton one that's hard to be critical of as the forward slips in at the last second to get to the ball first.
The good news is that most young defenders only need to make those mistakes once or twice before it's out of their system.

Makes for an interesting read when you skip over the date! Saw Marco Bustos, Hanson Boakai, Victor Blasco, Alphonso Davies and Noah Verhoeven compared in the same paragraph. Just goes to show how difficult it can be to predict the trajectory of young players (Granted, some of them are far enough apart in age).

As much as we may want these discussions to be focused on what players are doing on the field, off-field actions are worth considering as well.
MAK is currently one of the captains of LAFC and in most cases a player achieves this through their leadership, integrity and work ethic.
From a purely practical perspective a talented national team filled with players who only look out for themselves and get themselves into trouble off the field will not perform as well as a less talented team that is focused and cohesive.

Ottawa seems to rely pretty heavily on Acuna. This will be a good test for Pacific's midfield 3. Pacific's attack has been looking good lately. I hope Chung and De Jong are both good to go.

4 games in. What do you think of 2020 Pacific? Is Kah an upgrade on Silberbauer? How are the Fury acquisitions doing? Is Campbell gonna start scoring?

Of course.  And I am not trying to crap on Doneil.  But lets not pretend that there have not been enough conspicuous mistakes to create the reputation we are discussing.  Its not like a few years ago we just chose to unduly criticize one of our most promising young defenders like a bunch of cynical mean-girls.  Maybe there is some tendency to overly focus on the negative but I would argue that it comes from a perspective that is heavily influenced by some high profile and costly errors that don't seem as frequent or prominent among our other CBs.

I make that 43 Canucks on first team rosters. 44 if I was to add Callum Montgomery at Dallas but he's been loaned out. I imagine some of the TFC, Whitecaps & Impact younger players may be as well by the time the USL or CPL seasons start so that total could get reduced.

I'm excited to have a healthy De Jong but Blake Smith quietly had a really good season last year. De Jong isn't coming in to replace a weak area.
Younger players have the most room to grow from one season to the next so it's really hard to predict what kind of team Pacific turns up with in April.
Anyone know what to expect from Kah in terms of style of play? Silverbauer definitely had a distinct approach...

Once again putting an attacker in the backline ahead of a defender works for Pacific. NV did pretty well as a LB.

Does get a bit rough at time but I think we're mostly OK with letting the lads fight through things as it were, but for all that I don't recall too many instances where tackles when beyond aggesive and into malicous, at least no more than you'd see on any given Saturday in leagues that are further up the food chain than CPL.
What I don't like seeing is this idea that clattering into an attacking player shielding the ball is something akin to defending.  Yes, it's quite normal at this level but if this league is to be a stepping stone for players to go onto bigger and better things then you can't let that sort of thing to take root.  Especially if we're developing players who may have a future in CONCACAF.
Every player going into development leagues is at risk of developing some of the wrong things.  Bad habits as it were.  There are all sorts of them to, some physical, others mental.  And that risk is nothing new.  Developing grit and emotional fortitude aren't bad habits though.

    Fair enough.
At this point in the season I'm good with Silberbauer. He has a vision for how he wants his team to the play and will make the difficult choices to implement it. Once more players return from being injured I expect the defence to look better but overall he's done well and I'm hoping he stays on.
