Yeah fair enough my man.  I joined the board in 2012 and know none of that history except for what you all tell me

Went and had a look.  I started my thread on feb 24 2013.  Apparently I volunteered right away, but didn't start the thread till February. here is the thread from jpg, oddly what I forgot was that you recommended me which I actually responded to as the catalyst for me doing it.  So if you started a thread, you didn't run it for long at all relatively speaking.  I think it's possible you might be the one having the memory lapse though, but if not help me out?  Here's the thread.

Okay, so I have literal real life memory problems that I work on.  I've even admitted that on these forums before.  That said, your post confuses me a lot.  Can you please refresh my memory?  I just went and checked, and it appears jpg's thread goes from 2010 right to 2013 which is when I took it over.  I also (memory problems?) remember jpg posting asking for someone to take it over and there being no takers.  I do remember it being a very orderly transition.  It might not have been as long as a month though...
It all seemed perfectly right in my head, and now your post has me doubting myself, but as I said I even went and checked jpgs thread to find out when he started and finished

Thanks Vince for the productive comment, glad you added to the discussion.
Additionally, I'd been thinking of asking this for a while, and yeah I made sure if I was ever going to choose to step back from it that it was between transfer windows when there would, as socceronly said, be a lot less urgency to make any decisions.  I felt pretty lucky that fussball stepped up so quickly, actually.
From my perspective the time frame on this is going really well, hasn't even been 24 hours yet and people are already stepping up.  If there's any way at all I can help feel free to include me

I just finished work and am just now reading this.  All I can say is I apologize if my departure from the thread is causing any unexpected conflict.  I, for one, as someone who was not a senior V when the thread was even made...I am personally indifferent on the matter of how it is hosted.  But I'm relatively new, just like Jon, so...
I remember, though, when I did take the thread over from jpg, there was an interim period of a month or so where absolutely noone wanted the task.  The only reason I even stepped in was because noone else would.
So here's the million dollar question...I was simply hoping to step away, so if Jon is willing to step in and do it his way...I'm all for that, and support fussball eh in that.
The only alternative then for those that wish for the traditional approach, is to find someone willing to do it in the traditional way.  I can see jpg doing it very begrudgingly, or myself doing it begrudgingly, but here we have Fussball Eh who has been chomping at the bit WANTING to do this and loving it.  Maybe he could be convinced respectfully to do it the traditional way, but then he is comfortable with his google doc and used to it.  The initial time on him trying to change that information to the board way, with the info he would like to provide is HOURS on HOURS of work (trust me)
So with all that information, what's the best resolution, really?

Odds are here end as another suit more concerned with internal politics, and organizational infrastructure.

He may have some disadvantages but he comes in with huge advantages too...inheriting 3 MLS teams and 2 NASL teams (if you include Ottawa who are getting a franchise, the deal being done before he was president).

If the goal of the average fan is player development to strengthen the CMT, then inheriting these certainly doesn't hurt, although it may take more time than people are willing to give it for the payoff. It's not just about having systems intact on the club level to develop with...it's also about generating interest nationwide in Canadian youth early so that they may choose soccer over other sports that had been more popular. And THAT will take time.

But even over the next five years, we should see more Canadians developed in that system.

I would love to see fellow Calgarians join us in the stands on Saturday...pump these players up for CanPL, make no mistake about it, a lot of the same players will be wearing Cavalry kits next year.

National Anthem for the home opener May 11. Sorry for poor picture quality, but the sun was behind the players. Foothills win 2-0.

Excited to see a Foothills thread as well.  Foot Soldiers have been talking and we are ready to go this year, going to be a very exciting year!
We will definitely put some stuff about supporters meetings in this thread within the next few weeks as well, would be nice to see some new blood in there!

I don't think it's as black and white as just that. Canada needs to build a soccer culture at every possible level. Breeding quality players becomes more possible and feasible once Canada starts breeding a quantity of players, as well. A dad takes a kid to a Thunder Bay Chill game. The kid's all like...that looks fun...dad, can I try soccer? It's not all black and white.

Sorry that I'm just seeing this now, sir.  Elijah Adekugbe had a major season ending injury (blew his ACL I think it was) the day before the PDL season started.

Fair enough, but as a southern albertan I feel I have a pretty good finger on the pulse.
Hey, I was looking and I can't seem to find on this long thread your Okanagan/Kelowna/Vernon/Penticton logos/kits if there are any, can you refresh?

Also I kept saying I was gonna show my FootSoldiers remake logo but never did...I found an old version but the newest (with the tower properly singular colored all the way down) is on my old comp...I'll have to find it, but just to show...

Sparked by an interesting discussion I was having earlier with people following the TFC Prez's comments, I gotta start a poll.  If there was a Toronto CPL team, how many games would you actually go to?  Let's assume there is like...8 teams doing a double schedule for 14 home games in total.

Please only answer if you would plan to be a Toronto fan (or area, maybe you envision it in Vaughan, I don't know).

Did you know I'm from Medicine Hat?  Just saw this, haven't actually been online in quite a while!

I definitely like it, but just so you know most intelligent people in Medicine Hat kinda scoff at the homelessness thing.  That lasted like...3 months and still gets posted everywhere.  That was before the bottom fell out of the oilfield.  But the logo without the slogan is pretty solid.  Medicine Hat is the "Gas City" that's why the lantern.

My thinking about the CPL is as follows.... If you cant find 6 markets to support a team in Canada without resorting to MLS2 teams the project shouldn't go ahead.
The name itself 'Premier League' indicates it is going to be a top flight league. Also from what we have gathered in Halifax from our interaction with the guys at SEA there is a vision behind this league, many smart people working on it and some solid financial backers. My impressions have been the financial people and the ideas people are aligned and working together on a common vision. This vision from what I gather is a stand along top flight professional league with room to grow into something really big.
I know there are mixed feelings on the USL in the soccer community but here are a few straight facts. Only 4/29 teams drew over 5000 fans. They are the serious exceptions and like someone mention have MLS aspirations. 13/29 teams could not even draw 2000 fans (most of them MLS 2 sides). USL is always touted as a growing league on the move but my view is it is mostly minor league clubs just being propped up by the parents. There is no way those 13 clubs drawing under 2000 could survive on their own. Thus in reality half the league really isn't viable.
In my opinion from what we have been told about this project - the money and ideas people involved with CPL have something a bit bigger in mind. I think Canada is ready for it. It will take some work and there will be some bumps in the road but I think we can get there.
